1. why is this revolutionary on Company Claims New Chip Converts Heat To Electricity · · Score: 1

To be honest if this is so revolutionary then um...why don't I feel it. I remember from High School electronics courses using fire on some combination of wires (Don't remember the metals) creating a small amount of voltage, not usable but it still create it. Now their claim that by giving it some juice they can get it to -200 c...I dont trust that entirely until I can do it.

Also with Intel and Amd trying now to lower the heat output of processors, I think it might be better to use the device to cool the cpu rather than provide energy, or better yet do both ( most users are tethered to their bricks for the most part any way). Oh crap now I've leaked a good idea and won't get any compensation, well maybe getting a lower score for this post.

Your also forgetting that the military is made up of untrained civilians that go through training. Besides, our country is founded by revolutionists...dont forget how we fought British (yeah I know the french helped). The side with more wilingness to win will win.

  3. Re:It does matter. on iPod Cracked, But Does it Matter? · · Score: 1

You know its really funny that somthing like music and video has alway been device cross usable (not the best way to say it but I'm sick so deal with it). With music and video we always have wanted one format that plays on any compnaies device so poor people can use and rich people can get the best quality. Break into video games where for the longest time you could really only play specific games only built for your system, so no playing sonic on nintendo and no playing mario bro's on sega. So you'd need 2 systems to play a wider range of games, and most people were fine with that. Its a little diffrent now, where companies build for 2 or more systems, be it a specif console and pc or mulitconsoles, etc...Even still its mostly just platform specific. And games are not cheap. So why when it comes to music are people so pushy when someone uses DRM, or someone like iTunes makes their format only for their device? You paying not to play the music on a specific device, but for the license to play it for yourself. Even with computer systems, for a long time microsoft products weren't available on the mac, and even now they typically arn't up to par with windows versions. You don't see a ton of people complaining because Microsoft or other software developers arn't developing cross platform for Linux, Windows and Mac, heck lets throw in Sun systems to. People should realize that Apple builds products that they think people will buy, they build it to what they think we want. And they only open their ears enough to hear the good we say and act on that. Who cares, stop complaing about DRM, they won't get rid of it untill the the DMCA is abolished, and the big companies supplying the tracks will stop if they think that the music is, "unsecure" or "copyable". You yell loud enough and they hear that the m4p format is just a stumbling block, they will make it a wall.

  4. Re:My two cents regarding this on Learning to Love the Cable Guy · · Score: 1
1) I am sick and tired of poor quality television on cable. If I understand how it works, analog would be a better quality picture than digital. When digital loses some info, it really messes up the screen. This happens to much and makes me yearn for yesteryear's age of television.
I Complety agree, I actually have to switch from digi to analog for some channels too often, fortunatly I don't pay extra for the digital box...ok so $1, as long as on demand works. Even still I can see the poor quality blockyness from the horrible compression. Its the biggest reason I will never go fully digital for Tv be it cable or sat.
2) Two tier pricing system based on the customer's income. The rising cost of these packages needs to be offset for those who are low income. These companies need to consider giving discounts to low income households for the cost of telephone (VOIP) and Internet service. I mean, come on. If water companies have a special rate for low income families, why can't communication companies do the same? I consider communication, i.e. phone and Internet, to be a bit on the necessity side of things as it would be so hard to live without. (Job applications tend to require phone access for example.)
Unfortunatly this won't happen because the main product, cable, is not a nesecity. I agree with the things like cable phones being income oriented, but Internet speeds on cable are already price per bit a deal, the only issue is the few tiers they offer, if they still offerd a 1mb tier for somthing like $20 (not with any discounts for being a customer of cable) they'd steal the market from dsl quickly. Overall I only think Internet is a bargain, if you like the digital, dish is better (more choices for the most part), land lines typically cheaper from a phone company as well depending on the area.

I am as well, We progress as needed, not just because the technology exists, so what you can connect at 100mbps, who cares! Most websites have a connection of roughly 100mpbs shared so you'll never utilize that much bandwidth, unless you do online gaming and most of the internet users, business included don't. I think to many people look at America as One large country controlled by one government, in fact we are a country of states which can make choices for themselves, if they agree with the federal government then those states get more federal funding, It goes as far as into towns as well. If there was a demand for higher speeds, then hey will have em, but right now my 8mb connection is a little more than enough.

My Teacher really didn't teach us well and prepare us for the AP test so I came out with a 1...I was able to jumpt straight into cs 2 in Collage which covers almost everything we learned in HS. I did goto a big school though so the oppurtunity to get into the tech world was fairly simple. I think the biggest problem for kids now days is the lack of a need to learn to program. Growing up I got my hands on a comodore 64 (actually my friend gave it to me after he got fed up with the system). I learned basic from it and played around with games and such. I also programmed my graphing calculator because I could affor a pda at the time. Also too many people think the programming tech world is unstable for themselves. Pshh, you just need to know the right people, live in the right areas. I Live in the Denver Tech Center and am friends with a lot of people looking for mostly web scripting right now, they pay decently too but reliable help is a big problem. Back to the AP stuff, anybody that wanted to study for the AP exam and take it has the right to (HS kids that is) even if their school dosn't offer it, most people don't know this though.
