Yeah, ball rolling and all that put in in today standards their philosophies are complete nonsense.
They made assumptions in their metaphysical doctrines which were pitted against actual observation.
At what point should we have stopped Philosophical "wankery"? Just right AFTER Karl Popper perhaps?
Sorry but stuff like ethics and logic seems pretty neat to me to keep working on.

And its philosophical wankery that can actually give ideas in which direction to test consciousness.

Which frankly...is still a pretty big mystery.

This recent rampage against public employees seems to stem from their ideological stanpoint that these services and positions shouldnt be there in the first place.

They want to create a problem were public institution will have trouble finding willing employees, and then roll in with privatization and contracting.

Let me make one thing clear, public employees is not any different from private ones, for a union its still ...."bourgeois scum"(please dont take this last part to seriously, but for unions it must be seen as a political opponent wheter its about demands or concessions )

But wasnt really alluding to the main topic, hell demosceners today swears by DirectX and OpenGL evenly, they need it to try to cram as much graphical CS theory into their prods as they can.

But there is still plenty of instruction tinkering going on....
Lightshaft, edge of disgrace and jesus christ motorcross is as testament to that...as well as this dozy:

Plenty of people wouldnt call it proper CRPG ;)

    But i digress...

Yes Baldurs Gate did everything right, however now, when everyone thinks RPG in these day of age they want "EPIC STORY" they spend millions on cinematics and voice actors to produce what people should realize are cheesy CHEESY story exposition.
So we get rather short games dragged out by filler combat which little to no variation.

I love RPG stories (both PnP and CRPG variaty) but not because they are of LOTR quality, because they offer exentiricites and the setting can produce plenty of it.

Let the gamers use their imagination again, fuck the 3D cinematics and stop raping the gameplay doing so.

Yes, story has a place in a game, and I'd be denying if i didnt enjoy the story of plenty of OLDSCHOOL RPG's.

But look at Bioware now a days, how much do they spend of voiceactors and cinematic directing, its plain unnecessary, good game story usually comes from RPG module writers, not stuff you win a Nobel prize in litterature for but plenty of content and eccentricity to keep you going.

At this rate Bioware will begin to cut gameplay all together and release hentai games. With CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES AND ROMANCE OPTIONS!
