I have no idea in what world those people live who claim that the
broadband market is becoming more competitive and net neutrality regulations could hamper investment in broadband networks
. Last time I checked, like everyone else, I found out that I only had one (and if you're lucky 2 or 3) provider(s) in the area. The fact that we come out as 15/30 in the 2008 ITIF rankings should say something since costs increase and choices decrease, and bandwidths have been creeping so slowly, whereas Japan has the highest average bandwidth and lowest cost per Mbps. I would just love to hear what excuse these "expert" congresscritters have to say about where this competition is. The ISPs are fat and happy and don't have to invest in their networks, that is where the anti-competitive behavior is coming from.
They probably don't think what they're doing is wrong, because they are so disillusioned it doesn't sink in. I think a more fitting quote would be: "If you aren't [planning on] doing anything wrong to millions of paying customers, contractually obligated to a service that you aren't providing, then you have nothing to fear from this net neutrality law."
beat me to it. this is their ulterior motive for sp3, break xp and force people over to vista. damn you ms, you can have my xp when you pry it from my cold dead hands!
Or I'll just stop dual booting and use only fedora. Whatever's easier.
This is meant for hardcore star wars fans, so it's a pretty decent price for the setup that it has but for even less you can get a projector that really beats this one into the ground. Its resolution is only 1024x768 (4:3), so personally I would spring for a projector that has a better aspect ratio and larger display area. But like I said, this is for hard core star wars fans.
The reason they don't show a tag is because it isn't a vendor site, so you have to go click on your country to find a vendor..yadda yadda yadda you eventually get to see a price in your country. US$2,900. €2799
It's like her stupid, self-serving claim that Dumbledore was gay. She wants credit for being very up-to-date and politically correct - but she didn't have the guts to put that supposed "fact" into the actual novels, knowing that it might hurt sales.
I was really confused when I heard people mention this, I didn't read the children's books so I don't know. But that seems like pretty spot-on to me. I'm not sure how it would affect sales though since any of those people who object to homosexuality would most likely object to magic and "satanic" imagery.
Yes, to the point that it does not encourage people to do things like that. It's the fact that MADD picks out this little "mini-game" and blows it out of proportion. In the game you have a choice to do what is "right" and what is "wrong" in certain situations just like in real life. Doing something wrong in the game doesn't equate to some sort of correlation in real life.
I wonder when people will stop this thinkofthechildren crap, just like in Indiana where book stores have to register and pay a fee if they sell any
"sexually explicit material" which is vaguely defined as any product that is "harmful to minors." Maybe they'll get a hint from Oregon and drop that crap from the books.
Apart from the science reality, I'm more impressed with how close (at least from what I've seen) Iron Man sticks to the comic. It isn't set in WWII but that was a decision whoever directed/wrote/produced it made to appeal to the audience today. I'm not sure if I'll actually go see it but at least Uwe Boll didn't direct it.
Players also have the option of hailing a taxi or walking.
I believe it actually says some encouraging advice that you take a taxi, but it's still a choice just like in real life. Stop bitching about shit like this because you have nothing better to do.
After playing GTA4 last night, I totally saw this coming after playing the part where you get drunk with Roman and have to stumble back to your (any) car. It's actually harder to walk than it is to drive, and you in fact sober up on the way, magically, but it is in fact somewhat harder to drive.
Having said that, it's completely asinine that anyone would seriously think this encourages drunk driving, any more than it encourages stabbing people or jumping off of a building, or running from the police, or....... you get the idea, I wish those old bags would too.
I would say that most articles are in a NPOV because most articles are trivial or simply informative. If you're talking about popular topics, then I'd have to agree with you that they may not be from a NPOV. Consensus from editors is what determines if the article is in a NPOV. If an edit war happens, the article is locked and a discussion occurs to determine the consensus. Note that this is what should happen but is not always what does.
Your point about what facts actually are defined as, and as far as I know there is only one solid definition of a fact, may be confused with opinion. A fact is something that is true and can't be proven otherwise. The British government stating that Iraq had WMDs is a fact. Now whether their statement is true is not a fact, but a supposition that can be proved or disproved, and it was eventually disproved.
And people promote their opinion of the truth because we humans hate being proven wrong. But you are completely right about how people infer things from facts. That is what 24hr news is all about. Looking at a small set of facts, and inferring and opining for 22 hours over 2 hours of total facts that are construed into something "sexy" that sells or to whatever bias is controlling said medium, which is why I prefer to get news from as many sources as I can (none of which include 24hr news), including foreign ones that give a great outside-in perspective. I for one know who owns certain "news" stations (Rupert Murdoch and Clear Channel for two fine examples) and know that money is made and lost on whether certain stories are pursued. That's why I try to dig for "facts" on my own rather than trusting what one source tells me is true. The masses are either too lazy, stupid, or trusting, or maybe a combination of them, and I'm glad one more person I've talked to today is not.
I've been fairly cynical for a while, so these things haven't phased me since. Can you tell?
But the "rule" for writing these articles is the NPOV (neutral point of view) for all editors in wikipedia. Its accuracy depends on finding sources and writing the facts from a neutral standpoint, rather than a supposition that it was either a justifiable war, invasion, genocide, or rescue mission, based on a subjective point of view. Bias would be the reason that someone's 'improved accuracy' would be better termed as whitewashed. Removing facts that may shed some light on the downsides and failings doesn't make it more accurate, it makes it less so.
What, like the guy in the $100,000 suit is gonna design a retention system for the guy who doesn't make that in a year? COME ON! Oh wait, he does make that in a year.
I have no problem with them editing articles, until they start whitewashing and inserting propaganda into them to shed a better light on whatever the material is in question. Then they get put in timeout until they can learn to behave themselves.
Anyone who knows a thing or two would not use their real name for an email account used for any sort of content they don't want discovered. And no, I do nothing of the sort....
If you've ever seen that british show coupling, you should know what a porn buddy is. And no, it isn't someone who watches porn with you. It's a friend who will go into your home and remove all your porn before you family has to find it. Sounds like a good job for the subby.
Most probably were, but the two they compared the to are laptop hdds. Since the comparison is talking about Macbook Air, I looked at the specs:
Apple MacBook Air - 1.6GHz
OS X 10.5.1 Leopard; Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz; 2,048MB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz; 144MB Intel GMA X3100; 80GB Samsung 4,200rpm
The stock hdd is 4200rpm so even that 5400 figure you had was over the stock drive speed. So they should have compared those two options as well as what they did to get a good idea. As well as including drives with 8mb and 32mb caches.
It's nice to know all that buzz is worth ignoring since I just bought a fancy new 750gig sata hdd. Even 16mb caches beat them solidly, I wonder how 8 and 32 would compare. It's worth noting they didn't mention seek times, although I'm not sure how that would transfer into ssd terms.

Well shit, guess those death star plans will never get to Obi-Wan. sigh. [/geek]

It's remote controlled (with a Millenium Falcon remote) so you can drive it around and annoy people. Only US$2,900 too.
Ah, thanks for correcting me. I'm more of an amazing spiderman fan anyway.

No subscription, but it only lists ten major cities as of June 16, 2007. Better than nothing.

Ah, wrong pidgin link. My bad.
I'm not sure where you are looking. This works, and here is another mirror, and here's one more just for kicks.
Still need more?
