I wager they won't see the money... That's because all those artists are probably in debt to the major labels still for studio costs, merchandising, promotion costs, etc.
piracy is not rampant (yeah, it exists, but it's not the monster the RIAA claims it is
I kindly disagree.
As a working musician, it is my opinion that filesharing spreading to a large percentage of the general public is a direct reason that independant record labels and independant cd stores are increasingly becoming invisible and/or dieing.
This, in turn, helps the major labels strengthen their grip on the market and control this medium of mainstream media. I would say that it is a small monster now, but when it grows up it could become a godzilla.
two-point-oh isn't really all that fancy. If they want to attract people, they need something really fancy, like Quantum Search 10. I mean, who wouldn't want a quantum search?
Unless, of course, they're trying to attract slashdotters... then they should have named it something along the lines of Quantum pr0n Search 10.
Microsoft released a patch in January to fix a serious security flaw in the way Windows renders WMF What is clear from this attack is that there are plenty of people who still haven't installed this security update from Microsoft.
If your OS puts out a security fix, it's probably for a reason. This could have been avoided for everyone just by keeping up-to-date.
I think it's all talk. What are they going to do? Go door to door trying to find out who's using their computer "cybercrime"? Even if it becomes legislation, the enforcement will be weak. They're just trying to scare people away from "cybercrime".
I agree, partially. As far as just blogging goes, myspace doesn't compare with some of the other sites. But it does have wide appeal because of it's music/video/etc features.
The best use of myspace though, imho, is for networking and promo. As a musician I've used myspace to promote my band and have spread exposure to thousands of people all over who never would have heard me otherwise. This also lead to good online sales as as well.
Seems like upgrading the old games would be a waste of time and costs for the company. Why would they want me to upgrade Halo 2 if they're trying to sell Halo 3? Maybe if they charge for the upgrade...

I couldn't figure out why you complaining about all the work!
Only kidding though... that stuff is bad for you.
I hope those scientists are good at math, unlike whoever made that 2+2=5 slashdot image. Otherwise it'll probably take longer than expected.
I have seen the future, and it is robot pr0n!

What does it matter to Netflix? They still get their payment. And to the subscribers? Stop paying for nothing if you ain't gonna watch 'em!
Of course, this works out great for the crooks.
I see which dvds are resting on my friends desk and then borrow from them. Free for me; less dust for them. We're all winners.

I like myspace.
Phil Dick, huh?
I'd be careful with my references to this guy.
When will you people learn... War is not a game!!!
Still incentive against buying the next version of the game, which would cut profits; thus incentive against implementing the feature.

What they don't tell you is that all your outgoing data will be inversely read and/or filtered for "security reasons."
I think a more impressive story would be "Scientists DON'T Question Laws of Nature."
I never thought the old saying was any good anyways... There's just too many different tacks in the world! I always ended up clarifying.
...a sharp tack, that is!"
"Man, you're sharp as a tack!
Can it penetrate virtually any material? Does it dull after use? Will it be publicly available?
Nah... we were always poor and I was always deprived, but I still drooled over new shiney gadgets.
I could see how it could be conditioned as well, though.
As if Windows wasn't secure before... but now MS is having a conference to teach hackers how to get in?
Since it's inevitable, I guess it's nice to save them so much time figuring it out themselves.
