or at least have them home pcs doing something usefull like folding proteins or other distributed medical projects that will help people

as a software developer you feel that the new version of GPL was not written with software developers in minds, and for software developers benefit.

but it feels/sounds like it was written by some lawyer(s) with a grudge against tivo/microsoft and to create an opportunity to make $$$ thru lawsuits

lawyers are (lie)lawyers, it doesnt matter that they work for the FSF..

i was one of the first people in my university to use firefox a few years ago, since then i seen a steady rise of people using it but since last march the trend reversed, for example myself went back to IE7 because the fonts look alot nicer on my laptop and memory usage is very important for me, 4 tabs open in IE7 and firefox + both minimised > ie7 using 4MB! firefox is using 60MB! wtf? and dont get me started on the google toolbar.. i see people going back to IE7 now or opera anyways since this is /. i prob will be modded down, but oh well, this is the truth and i hope mozilla do something about performance (and no rooting around configuration options is not cool) as i like firefox and use it for development and testing

like i said "its not perfect but compared to the US..." there are a lot of things in Ireland that could be improved but were not badly off and since '96 things have been getting better, a lot better the fact that Health Service Executive didn't spend half of the 400 million health care budget and had to return it to the Exchequer makes you think "wtf? they could have spend it? what a pile of incompetent bastards, what the hell are they at?"

i highly recommend for any Americans with Irish roots to come back here (u wont get hassle getting citizenship!) the economy in last 10 years has grown so much the country is unrecognizable, and u get quality health care (its not perfect but compared to the US...)
