Just a bit of a nitpick: resistance is the measure of how much a certain object/length of wire resists current. For a type of material of unknown physical characteristics resistivity (Ohms*meters) is the proper unit. Otherwise, very informative and interesting post.
Of course Earth's magnetic field has always had a dipole arrangement: that's the only kind of magnetic field there is! As far as anyone knows, magnetic monopoles aren't physically possibly, much less tripoles etc. As for the shifting of the field and reversing the poles, well, shift happens.
That would be all fine and dandy (actually, it wouldn't, since wartime propoganda still propagates racism and jingoism), except that we aren't at war. We haven't been since 1945, and no, Congress authorizing use of force is not a declaration of war.
If the justification for war (or "war" in this case) isn't good enough for the people to support it then that indicates that the people making the decisions have motives contrary to the wellbeing of the people. The secrecy and "correction of falsehoods" just serve to obscure the big picture.
First, the bible wasn't a political document per se, it was a religious text. Sure, it had political influences, but it is a religious text nonetheless.
Second, the bible is full of contradictions and vagaries. As far as I'm aware, the Constitution is not (unless vagueness was intended). The Constitution was clearly more "carefully and expertly drafted" than the bible. The fact that the bible is older means one thing: it's older. Doens't give it any more weight.
I've had similar experience. A while back I replaced my GeForce 2 64MB with a Geforce 5200 128MB and had hardly any performance increase at all. Then I replaced that with a 6800GT and the leap was huge.
Luxury! We would have killed to be able to use someone else's parts: we had to leave our own dead chalky bodies, generation after generation over thousands of years, to produce any art. Granted, back in the day art lasted longer, not like this newfangled "digital" stuff. Pah.
While we're talking about who changed what, the original words in Latin were spelled "honor", "color", "favor", etc. It's the English who corrupted them and the Americans who restored them to their original, proper spellings./language snobism

I used to use ZoneAlarm, but since moving to Windows XP-64 (boy, was that a mistake) I haven't been able to find a decent firewall that will run for me. ZoneAlarm and Sygate only have 32-bit version that refuse to run on my machine. So now I'm stuck using the built-in windows firewall. Do you happen to know of any decent firewall programs with 64-bit support?
I think you're misreading the bill. He used 2644kWh that month. So he would still need a few windmills to get off the grid, yes, but he's still only going to be paying 9c/kWh (assuming he's not taking out loans to pay for the windmills).
My anvil was made in Brooklyn. I could have bought one for less from China or Russia (though the sellers are loathe to admit the origin) but the quality on those is crap. The Chinese anvils are usually cast iron, and while the Russian anvils can be usable, they're usually unfinished and ugly as sin.
The hybrid still gets all its power from the gasoline. When you start plugging it into the wall (as is the case with these "100MPG hybrids") it stops being entirely a question of efficiency and starts becoming one of battery capacity. That's why the definition in this case is goofy.
So we can assume that x% of people will lie to pollsters. Statistically speaking, they're likely to lie in even amounts (I don't think someone's party preference has much bearing on their personal willingness to lie). Therefore, the statistics are likely to be spot-on, as the liars will cancel each other out and hardly impact the polls whatsoever.
You seem to be talking about some sort of lightgun setup. My understanding is that the Wii comes with a sensor that you place near your tv (or monitor) that triangulates the position and orientation of the wii, plus of course the accelerometer and gyroscope in the offhand attachment. So I shouldn't think you would have any problems.

.357 Magnums now?
Is that what you kids are calling
I was thinking more along the lines of that they have to roll a saving throw vs. death. (DC 25)
Yeah, but then who watches the watchers?
That you're neither rich nor a graphic artist?

I wish I weren't out of mod points; that post made me laugh out loud.

Before we do that, we ought to cut their cocaine with some oregano and basil, maybe a few other herbs.
Hear, hear.

And nukes. Nothing like portable nukes for takin' out the Skinnies.
And today's lesson: always use /sarcasm tags, for there will always be some numbskull who just doesn't get it.
Yes, that's a good point.
If the students aren't doing anything wrong they have nothing to fear/complain about.
So you're saying he's like every politician in this country? You know, how they have speechwriters and people who write the laws that they sign?
