Our kind tend to be idealistic folk. While not perfect, 20 years is a damn good run in web-land if you look at all that has happened in that time to this site and others. Web-years are kind of like dog years.
Kudos to/. for surviving and thriving! A toast of bad coffee to another 20!
At face value, I agree it looks silly; but knowing MS, it's probably part of some plot to control more on the other platforms. I suspect they plan some kind of tie-in or forced bundling with some other product or service they plan to release. For example, maybe MS-Office for Android/iOS will intentionally run faster or better on Edge. The current Edge releases for portables is probably just a way to get a handful users to beta-test it for them.
They should have used APL. It has a futuristic look, especially if the graphics crew tinker with the character fonts a bit, and in the future the keyboards may be virtual such that editing in APL may be a snap.
Around 2005 I spotted a graph with the projected cost-effectiveness of solar panels compared to oil. The lines were extrapolated based on past trends and crossed around 2015, meaning around 2015, solar would be competitive with oil.
So, I tried to get a jump on things and purchased stock in 2 US solar companies. While the chart was right, the 2 companies I picked were duds. Chinese competition wiped them out. I should have checked the China growth graph also. Some of the Chinese companies cheated, but the damage was done, either way.
This. Don't use it as a method of verification and don't require it for verification. It's a stinkin' ID number, NOT a password, for petesake!
The idea of having a person ID number is not wrong; the problem is how it's being used. You don't cut everyone's dick off just because some people are forced to hump their pets.
It's funny how lefties have suddenly rediscovered the allure of federalism now that they're temporarily out of power...Tell me -- how would you have reacted had individual states simply refused to comply with the Net Neut regulations Wheeler put in place?
If it's not MY state, I frankly wouldn't care that much. If TX want's to marry Camcast, lettem.
But objectively far more important is the DOMESTIC influence on our election from corporations and oligarchs,
Using twisted logic, the right-leaning Supreme Court has ruled that corporations also have "free speech" and that "donating" to candidates is "free speech". In other words, the plutocrats got mass bribery legalized.
Exactly! Intelligible wouldn't match his style. He rambled on incoherently in front of thousands of Boy Scouts about some crazy night in a hotel bar. He gives sobriety a bad name.
Which ones? How many? Links? You appear to be manufacturing "facts".
I do agree many claim the Russians attempted to influence the election, but I've rarely seen any claims that they almost certainly ACTUALLY changed the final results.
In other words, which Democrats directly and clearly claim the outcome would be different? I don't want pundit interpretations, I want to see actual quotes.
Sorry, I'm NOT aware that China was discovered having a dedicated clandestine program designed to influence our elections using multiple techniques.
But I do invite you to present evidence, if you claim such.
Every politician probably has nations they are more friendly with than others. Trump has Saudi Arabia, for example. If the Clintons were friendlier with China than their opponent at the time, I don't see much difference between the two.
Einstein's a fake, total loser, can't even use a comb right. His passport is probably fake too, #deeeport! Beliebe me, I know relativity better than my relatives, and they have bigly brains. Gravity warming is a liberal myth, just like global waves. So sad. Make American Gravity Great Again!
If the election were closer, yes it could have made a difference. But the real point is that a foreign government attempted to influence our elections through clandestine methods and plans. The success of their plans is secondary. They also attempted to hack voting machines, I'd note.
I'd like to see personal style options for /., and "OMG Ponies" can be one those listed.
For those of you who don't know what OMG Ponies is
Then again, maybe not.

I didn't say letting users test is bad, I'm only trying to predict the steps in MS's larger plan based on past behavior.

I've heard about the Sue Indians.
Accidentally discovered when somebody ran over a phone

NoSql.Blockchain.node.js is so last year, keep up!
Foreign governments forming large clandestine operations to influence our democracy to their liking is disturbing, period.

I did, it doesn't back up what you claim.

As bad as the MSM may seem at times, at least they have a semi-reputation to protect, and are usually more accurate than "news-by-likes".

Bots for Trump! (tempting to spell it with a 'u')
Really? Except for some marketing and graphics departments, I don't see Macs in workplaces
What precisely are your allegations?
Who is claiming that? Also, Facebook is just one of many avenues they pursued.
Unlike ads sponsored by a candidate, an outside party (group) has more freedom to outright lie. Look how effective Pizzagate was.
