"killbots have a preset kill limit. once i realized that, i sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their kill limits and shut down!"
spam (noun)
Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.
So spam is:
Unsolicited
Commercial
Sent to multiple groups
Junk
Ads would be:
Unsolicited
Commercial
On multiple channels
Junk
It seems the only difference is in the media used.
Do you honestly think they would have jumped to linux? They probably don't know how to use it, they know their user base doesn't, so It'd be terrible for them. If they ALL stuck with it, then yeah, it would work, but otherwise, if only one or two companies jumped, they'd lose money waayyyyy too fast.
Exactly. I can drive whenever I want, but if my dad says he wants to sleep early and doesnt want me coming home and wake him up, I have to come home. If not, no driving. After all, it's his house, and he's paying my insurance. If I get a ticket, I pay the full insurance, including the extra rate. Big incentive not to speed. Biiiiig incentive.
... it's really sad to see that 98% of the comments here are based on distrust, hatred, and bad jokes. This is a huge move: Microsoft, for once, finally understanding that open source has a place and that NOT working with them spells trouble for them.
It's slashdot! 98% of ALL comments on ALL articles are based on distrust, hatred, and bad jokes. That doesn't mean that we mean everything we say.
And I do agree, it's a good idea for MS to work with third party/OSS devs.
But...
It's a trap!
The thing is, the process of creating more cd's has probably gotten cheaper... So the extra price comes from what? The record companies want to milk their precious copyrights, and so in the last 5 - 10 years, we've had more than 50% price increase (from a good ol' $12 cd). Some of that is probably from spending time and money developing DRM software...

Exactly. I've never worked anywhere that had a newer OS than Win2k, IT dept or not.

ok, that was bad
My high school principal does this. They have an account and search through students' profiles regularly... kind of a nazi in general.
