I'll take criticism from an "Anonymous Coward" as a compliment. Should I listen to you, and take your advice I will fail, because appearing at the test as "Anonymous Coward" would be akin to not showing up at all.

Also, I'm not trying for it. I'm getting it. It's a mandate of my employment. And seeing as I've been deploying cisco routers for a few years straight now, it should be cake.

I'll come back when I have it, and ask how that anonymously criticizing thing is working for you.

The good - someone like IBM buys them out and M$ can (snicker) "license" all they want from IBM. Or they fade away because of the clout of the Linux (GNU/OSS/FSF) community.

The bad - everything stays as is right now and we all ride the FUDtrain (or at least the ones who believe it.)

The ugly - M$ does some silly stupid crap to keep this thing going.

Part of their strategy is keeping that info hushed... hence the need for NDA's, etc... to the people they end up showing it to. In the end, ultimately, despite all the controversy, it probably makes the case for Open Source and Free Software stronger.

"These grandmas," says Richard Head, the president of the GPA, "swap recipes constantly, with no thought given to the impact on either the grocery industry or even the restaurant industry. Just because you enjoy a meal prepared by a grandma, doesn't mean the original source was hers, or that she owns the license to reproduce it. It could be stolen. Something has to be done about this, millions of people all over the world are currently enjoying stolen food." Apparently it has to be 'a specific set of operations in a specific sequence with specific data.' Intel is saying that affects the 900MHz and 1 GHz Itanium 2 chops and that it will not affect the upcoming 1.5 GHz Itanium 2 6M chips." I'm sure the only ones who lose out are AMD. And btw, AMD, I used a tube of old Radio Shack silicon based grease and a volcano 5 (yes, 5) ... and my system is nice and cool at about 50C under full load (folding protein.) Nya nya nya.
