Funny you should mention that...considering it was Japan that beat the bejeesus out of China in 1894-5, fought Russia in 1904-5 and forcefully annexed Korea in 1910.
I'm as concerned about where the US is going as the next guy, but let's leave the ignorant, ill educated, and reflexive US bashing a rest shall we?
Always better to be concerned early. If, in 10 years, we're still without a manned spacecraft, the ISS is in decay due to a lack of heavy lifters to get it back in a stabler LEO, meanwhile the Chinese have Heping orbiting and regular launches to it...well, there's much more ground to cover
Plus the earlier you show concern, the bigger your 'I told you so' rights are.
China has a few "Apollo-style manned stunts" coming up next year, planned at least. (Shenzhou program, which has already had successful manned launches.)
We've been doing planetary probing for decades. Sure, the instruments have gotten more sensitive and we can fit more into a single launch, and don't get me wrong I've got nothing against probes and orbiters (Cassini-Huygens is awesome), but we're regressing to our mid 70s where space is concerned, while China's entering their 60s.
Ninty never kept up on it though; they'd go months without releasing patches like that.
Usually every time a big first party title came around there would be a 'firmware update.' Then, barring actual bugs or features (the exception), it'd sit there til the next big first party title.
What, the user needs to take responsibility for the actions they perform, and that those actions can damage their security on their computer? What are you, some European Socialist pig?!
Oh, as far as security models? Security models mean squat when you hand over all the keys to Spunky the Spyware...
For what it's worth, in the layman world, virus, malware, trojan, worm are interchangeable. It's pretty damn rare to find an honest-to-Vishnu virus in the wild anymore, least from the systems I've cleaned up, ones with moderate defenses. It's basically malware/spyware across the board.
And 98% (+/- 2%) of that would be solved by people not clicking YES/OK to everything...
Well, since volume of work determines what's true, guess this closes the book on the whole climate change 'debate' since 100% of the peer reviewed papers are in support of it. Sucks that video games cause violence, but one must pick their battles. Eat it, warming deniers!
That doesn't answer the question. In fact, it avoids it. "How do we balance the budget? Cut spending. Where? Where we're spending." GENIUS!
Much easier to criticize than make suggestions, isn't it?
(Oh, and by the way, hydroelectric does not leak poisons (well...in general. For the sake of argument let's not quibble over the lubricants and et cetera necessary to keep the turbines running smoothly) but a dam burst would qualify as an environmental disaster. (A dam by itself qualifies too, but again, for the sake of argument, let's assume we've accepted the dam's existence, under duress if necessary.))
I just went with wikipedia because I felt really really lazy. A monkey randomly typing characters into Google search could find something like this without remotely trying. Yes, nuclear power has downsides. EVERY option of generating power has a downside.
Ok, fine, I'll play your little game. Let's shut down and replace every nuke plant with...well...what?
And what's up with old shows not being shown, or even being censored of shots of the world trade towers? We're supposed to remember 9/11 and the towers crashing down, but forget they stood for 30 years?
Another solution to the global food crisis is to stop having massive freakin steaming piles of babies.
Or, just a modest proposal here, have more babies.
Funny you should mention that...considering it was Japan that beat the bejeesus out of China in 1894-5, fought Russia in 1904-5 and forcefully annexed Korea in 1910.
And don't forget the Mongols!
Goodnight Moon - $18.00
Goodnight Moon with bundled performance license - $180.00
I smell a marketing scheme!!
Be thankful your manager wasn't a complete idiot; playing the odds, that would normally get you fired, arrested and pilloried...
You're a lifesaver.

As if reality isn't depressing enough as it is, you gotta go shit in my cheerios.
Well, I guess there's always more liquor...

Don't forget China's Shenzhou program, with more manned launches planned for next year.
And we're cutting back. What do they know that we don't? Hmm...
Not a digital clock.

One could say the same about you...
And what would you replace them with?

Well, until the machinery that drives the hydraulic pump that creates the power for the pacemaker breaks down.
That's the problem with perpetual motion machines: once you remove it from it's closed system parameters, it falls apart.
Having a pacemaker you don't need to include a chest zipper with would be very convenient.
Once machinery driving the hydraulic pump that powers the pacemaker breaks down, no more 'perpetual' motion.

If we have to revisit it in 10 years, it's still nowhere near how bad Chernobyl was.
I wonder if in 10 years there will even be a blip statistically large enough to be significant.
I wonder if in 10 years we, in general, will even remember this ever happened...
Because coal ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvania ) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountaintop_removal ) and natural gas ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fracking ) and dams ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dam_failure ) are all 100% safe and contain zero ill effects to anyone, anywhere living within any distance to the source.

The winners of history get to write it.
Make your own conclusion who won...
it's why most corded gamers refused to go wireless initially, because the perceptible delay was so damned frustrating.
For me it's a matter of 'I've got enough damn peripherals that use batteries and I've got 8 USB ports on my tower...what's one extra cord?'
