    The result is that every time you need to load an application through the menu you are forced back into the abomination that is the Metro interface.

    I installed Classic Shell and that was the last I saw of start tiles. I installed apps from Classic's Run and partied like is was 2002.

    Yes, I think we had a meteor headed toward us. Fortunately it appears to have been small enough to not bonk us on the nose.

    Iridium flares is a possibility. This one was perfectly circular, however, unlike the examples on that wiki page.

    One other thing I realized some time later is that, had this been a 'shooting star', we could have been watching something that then hit us. Sobering. I realize the probabilities are ridiculously low, but still they are (were) there.

    This was no hallucination either. Perfectly clear night. Plenty of other stars, and 'shooting stars' visible. Both of us saw it. No alcohol or equivalent involved.

    I realize this is slightly off-topic to this thread, but I witnessed something a few years back that was probably this. Two of us were on our backs watching the night sky when we both saw something glow, expand into a "light circle" maybe half as wide as a full moon, then go away -- all in about one second.

    It had the "timing" of a 'shooting star', but it did not have the arc.

    I tried searching on Google to see if this had just happened in the area (i.e. other witnesses). Realized I didn't know what it was called. Hard to search. Gave up.

    The other much more remote possibility is that we witnessed a supernova somewhere (slightly supported by how perfectly circular the flash was as it grew). Other than these two, I'm stumped.

    Is there a name for this? How common/rare is it?

    Agreed. I had it even worse, growing up on pinball. However, one revolutionary input device not listed in the summary was quite to my liking -- the trackball. Centipede was responsible for an arcade revolution in no small part because of its baby trackball. Missile command also required and showcased it.

    Aren't these unusual brain features exactly what half the humans on this planet have? Women have more "cross linking" of the two brain halves. IMO these are a minus when it comes to focusing on one thing -- like Einstein did with Relativity -- not a plus. So I'll go with the "more curious" explanation.

    All I can give is an intuitive answer -- I think this surface doesn't stand a chance. Surfaces don't stay superhydrophobic or super anything. Things get shut down and serviced but corrosion never sleeps.

    Yes, a group was using their sonar. Yes, whales were injured. No, we do not know what caused it. Why? Because BOTH sonar systems could be active at the same time. Because a third factor could be active. Because someone could be lying.

    Not all the facts are in. I tried adding to them. You're welcome.

    Something less obscure, perhaps? How about your clipboard and many popular web sites. You go to paste that "cheap office coffee" work query and oops you had "my new pin is 12Z45 !" in your clipboard. Well, all of that has already been sent before you even press enter -- to Google, IMDB, even my local library. This is beyond "petty annoyance" and firmly into "none of your #*$% business" category for me.

    - no need for each person to own a car. A pool of robot "taxis" will be available to everyone at all times. Dispatched from one company there will be no turf wars, no gouging of passengers, no navigational incompetence. - no need for taxi drivers, truck drivers, ambulance drivers, etc.
    - no need for parking enforcement & traffic cops
    - no need for human-use gas stations
    - no need for Joe's Rip-Off garages
    - no need for Costco to sell motor oil
    - and best of all, a 95% reduction in TV advertisements!
