You can get that now if you play a video of Al Gore backwards.
There's also a freaky backware message. "Believe (2 second pause) in global warming. We must put earth (2 second pause) in a lock (5 second pause) box."
"that can actually cost more than having Windows on an enterprise machine"... guy: it's when you have more than one machine that the benefits of free software get obvious. When you have more than a dozen, they're stunning.
5) How busy are the people at each place? Too busy as in #4 is bad, but too slow is just as bad. Nothing is worse than trying to muddle through another work day with nothing to do, and nothing interesting to keep your mind occupied, while you surf work-friendly sites such as Slashdot, and hope your web usage doesn't get high enough to raise eyebrows. This will actually lead to a state of mental apathy which is very hard to shake, and which can seriously cripple your career for years. We've had people like this, and have had to get rid of them because we could never depend on them to get anything done in a reasonable amount of time even though once upon a time they were firecracker developers. 3 or 4 years in a job like this can ruin a developer, sometimes forever.
Wow you're scaring me but I know you're right. I used to be on top of every new technology, involved in multiple projects and even have a couple of books published on programming. One day though the travel got to me and I realigned myself with a different job to allow myself more time at home. Well, after 2 years I am now at the other end of the spectrum. When I read that the.NET framework 3.0 was just released...I realized I'm on framework 1.1 and haven't even had the chance to work with 2.0 - in one day it hit me I'm already years behind.
Right and they are usually pissed off any way because someone has told them X party is going to take away their medicare, welfare or social security checks.
FYI, monopolies are not illegal. It's quite clear however that you are anti-Microsoft, not anti-monopoly.
Allow them to leverage their monopoly and consumers suffer with higher prices, inferior quality, and a stagnating industry.
IE and Firefox are free. Higher prices have nothing to do with it. Quality and stagnate industry? We just got updates to both IE and Firefox. The competition is not stagnate and both feature improvements...so inferior quality?
Microsoft doesn't stop any other software from doing an automatic update. Sure, it might not come down as an update from Microsoft but I know that many other applications contain "phone home" functionality to check and notify for updates. Not a single app is prevented from doing so. In fact, my virus scanner notified me of updates this morning.
What makes you think China will adhere to the GPL? China could do some really evil things to OSS if they worked at it. There isn't much regard for standards over there. They want revenue and do not want their hands tied by the rest of the world.
Running XP, I have had to call support once. I have upgraded video cards, ram, hard drives, sound cards...the ONLY thing that has set off activation via hardware install was upgrading the processor and motherboard (which required a re-install of Windows XP). The other times I had to reactivate included my own choices of reinstalling the OS.
Linux actually needs both to really compete on the desktop. Sure, don't let drivers and other core libraries slide but it needs serious help in the UI department. Linux developers always speak of standards and fault MS for never following them - how about Linux having a UI standard? Too many things I use I have to relearn the UI to some degree. At least in Windows (for the most part) there is a standard in the tool bars and menus. File, Edit, etc.
Funny? I'm serious.
I'm an early adopter and usually purchase many products like this that come out. I'm really looking forward to it.

Can we mod down tags? This is getting ridiculous.

Thats why I am an advocate of free hardware.

Good!
Is that the one where you play Al Gore and try to make as many presenations as you can while being attacked by armies of undead SUV drivers?
Right and they are usually pissed off any way because someone has told them X party is going to take away their medicare, welfare or social security checks.
Linux is the 'people's OS'
I'll consider calling it that when Linux is simple enough for the majority of the "people" can understand it. Right now, that just isn't the case.
Those are the unsold copies of the DVD release of "An Unconvenient Truth".
Comparing Microsoft products and their distribution channels to cocaine is absurd! That's not even within the same ballpark! Now THAT is moronic.

I just don't see it.

*shrug* Maybe when Firefox releases their own OS they can do the same.

That kid's never going to wanna look at a club or baseball bat!
Well, science is king here. I'm surprised I haven't seen a post stating that any fetus that tests positive should be used to harvest stem cells.
It's the Libyans!!!!!
nations should be able to do whatever the hell they want in their own borders w/o the meddling of other nations.
1 name, Hitler
How do you support yourself making free software?

Al Gore has patented the power point presentation.
Did they publish a new manual? You know...to make it easier?
