You confused the Union of the Crowns (1603) with the Treaty of Union (1707). The former was when Queen Elizabeth, the last English monarch, died. The bloodletting that accompanied the Tudor monarchy left Elizabeth as the sole survivor of the House. The nearest heir was James VI of Scotland.
The latter was when Queen Anne bribed the Scottish Parliament to vote itself out of existence despite widespread resistance to an unpopular move.
Surpisingly, though Shoggoth Studies might seem to be useful and relevant, the subject is rarely taught outside of selected New England universities. This is most probably due to the tastiness and crunchiness of aspiring Shoggoth experts.

I stopped buying after Weatherlight (bought a house instead). I kept tabs on the game though and target-bought some 'relevant' singles. Just got sucked back in by the new block (Ravnica::Guildpact::Dissension).
...But Dark Ritual isn't "modern" anymore - it's been rotated out of Standard
The Really Modern Turn 1 Kill (for Standard)
Turn 1:
Mountain
Tap mountain for 1 red and cast any 1/1 red creature with haste (Glitterfang is good).
Play 2 Burning Shoals (gives +X/+0) for the "free" cost by discarding 2 Myojin Of Infinite Rages(with a converted mana cost of 10 each) to make Glitterfang 21/1. Attack opponent Win.
this is much better than using your own life as a source of damage.
There must surely be a difference here between playing an online card game where the game itself has no DIRECT monetary outcome and playing an online card game where one bets (virtual) money as part of the game. The two could be equated if the mtg players were playing for ante (not that many do these days) where the winner of a game received a direct benefit from the outcome. One does not normally gamble as part of a Magic game but Poker HAS to be played for stakes.
To close down MTGO would be to say that prizes cannot be awarded for internet-based competitions. This would mean that company promos would have to exclude everyone from WA.
The Classic Turn 1 Kill Turn 1: Mountain. Black Lotus. Mox Emerald. Mox Ruby.
Pop the Lotus for 3 red - cast Ball Lightning (6/1).
Tap Mox Ruby and Mountain - Cast Blood Lust on Ball Lightning (10/1)
Declare attack. Attack with Ball Lightning.
Tap Mox Emerald for 1 green - Cast Berserk on Ball Lightning.
Bludgeon opponent with 20/1 Ball Lightning.
Win.
By extension most murderers shouldn't be jailed. Most murders (in the UK certainly) are committed in the spur of the moment where the two parties are known to each other and something has gone suddenly wrong in the course of an argument. The perpetrator will rarely commit this act a second time in his/her life and is not a danger to society in general. There are other crimes regarded as "lesser" in nature that should really have more stringent sentencing. Rape springs to mind where the likelihood of the perpetrator re-offending is much greater than in the case of murder. So to re-order crimes according to the liklihood of recidivism
I am not trolling. I am one of the many, many PC users that are not code monkeys. I use Windows because (for me) it 'works'. By 'works' I mean that my PC does what I want it to do 99.99% of the time. I have however an older laptop (It's a Haus laptop: Pentium 2, 1.4Ghz, 256MB RAM, 20GB Hard disk - Haus were an own-brand badging for the former jungle.com now owned by Argos) on to which I have installed Mandriva. The experience has been interesting. I can do all sorts of OSS stuff like play OSS games and type up OSS documents and so on. The fun stops, however, when I want to anything that an ordinary PC user might want to do. I cannot surf the web because there are no Linux drivers for my Netgear or Belkin wireless cards. I cannot send or receive email because of the same reason. I cannot download new software because of the same reason. I cannot print anything because I do not have a linux driver for my printer (Lexmark X1170 - if you know of one let me know). All this means is that my Linux laptop is a mere curiosity and not a powerhouse driven by cutting edge OSS technology
Could the people who know all about APIs, ABIs and Microkernels and so on PLEASE stop bickering and just write some drivers.
It's an 'urban myth' which was made up about the BBC Micro. However, it was based on a true story about the PET - there was a location you could poke to do with the graphics frequency which if you set it wrong could cause the HT supply in the monitor way over-voltage, which would sometimes break down the transformer. This came up in the PCW magazine* after someone wrote "it is impossible to damage a computer with bad software".
So I've been urban-mythed again, eh? I apologise to the designers of the BBC Micro for perpetuating the notion that their machine would combust.
Well I am no Elder God but I knew them when they were kids.
There used to be ways of programming certain early personal computers to make smoke come out of them. I think the BBC computer and the ZX80 were the main ones. The BBC was vulnerable (dredges memory) to a POKE command that would make it fall over and die howibbly

Your comment about conjecture and astronomy reminds me of what pretends to be a joke...
An astronomer, a physicist and a mathematician are going to a conference in Edinburgh. None of them have been to Scotland before.
As their train crosses the border into Scotland, the astronomer pots a black sheep on a hillside. "Look!" exclaims the astronomer, "the sheep in Scotland are black".
The physicist looks up and declares "No, not at all. At least ONE of the sheep in Scotland is black".
The mathematician looks up and says "No, at least half of one of the sheep in Scotland is black."
yeah, it's not so funny really but its +1 Insightful

It was a hitherto immutable law that tech prices drop year-on-year: 1992's $60 CD walkman was 1997 $20 CD walkman. This didn't happen with MiniDisc though. Prices for both players and recorders remained unrealistically high until the format croaked. I'm not about to fork out $200 for a MD recorder, the difference in quality doesn't mean that much to me when comparing with CD. Given that people can simply copy a CD for 30 cents and 5-10 minutes of time, what possible inducement to MD was there? If the player/recorders had dropped to about $50-60 and the discs dropped to less than $2 then it might have been worth the cash.
You mean this stuff won't make my hair grow back?
Chuck could take it

As far as I'm concerned, price killed MiniDisc.
