  9. Duh... on 'Apple Stole My Music. No, Seriously' (vellumatlanta.com) · · Score: 2

It has been known for years that iTunes is a deeply flawed software and that Apple just doesn't care. Anyone using it deserves whatever pain Apple inflicts upon them.

Sorry, Netflix. You just made me think about your price and that means I'll cancel when the price goes up.

Nothing on Netflix that I can't Torrent and the Netflix recommendation engine is so horrible that it never suggests a movie that I am interested in seeing.

  15. TVGuide.com/Gemstar is the REAL culprit on Zap2It Labs Discontinuing Free TV Guide Service · · Score: 1
Gemstar got lucky in the patent lottery and has been trying to extort money from anyone that lists television schedules.

I'll bet that they will offer integrated television listings to any application for about twice the price of an annual subscription to the TV Guide per user because "integrated TV listings have more value..." or some crap like that.

So, Google has invented a system that can read my mind and analyze all the content surrounding a particular video clip to determine with 100% accuracy whether my usage of said clip constitutes fair use or not? That is some serious technology!

I'm impressed that I'll be able to use that Disney clip loaded to Google Video that is embedded in my blog on a completely different site for my college research paper on Disney's history of copyright violations.

  19. What should really scare the music industry... on Music Execs Say Apple's DRM Hurting Industry · · Score: 1
If the music industry had any vision whatsoever, the real fear today would not be piracy. It should be that one company (Apple) is gaining a huge amount of control over music distribution and that control increases daily as their profits dwindle daily.

I'm sure that Jobs is sitting in his office laughing as the music industry creates a business for him and then prepares to give him the keys to the castle. Unless the music industry scraps DRM and embraces multiple online music retailers, Apple won't have to negotiate pricing with the "music industry" because it will OWN the "music industry" lock, stock, and barrel.

In the future with DRM, there will be two labels: Apple and eMusic. Apple will be mainstream pop. eMusic will be alternative and independent.

  23. Virtual beanie babies? on eBay Delisting All Auctions for Virtual Property · · Score: 1
What about my virtual beanie babies?

I think eBay should just add a disclaimer to "virtual property" sales. Maybe something like this:

"If you are spending real money to buy auction items in a "virtual world" we highly suggest that you spend that money on a.) moving out of your parents basements b.) buying clothes without Star Trek quotes on them c.) shower or bath products d.) all of the above. eBay thanks you and the women that ignore you at bars and clubs also thank you."
