I refuse to use iTunes simply because of DRM. Yes I know you can jump through hoops to get around the DRM, but why do that when I can get it for free, at a higher bit rate, and DRM-less? There is no good reason - hence the whiny music companies. I will continue to get free music as long as I can and as long as there is DRM and no fair use. If iTunes was DRM free I would pay for my music. It's just that simple. And go away with that "there's plenty of DRM free music by independent artists and labels". If I wanted their music I'd freakin' get it.
I work for a publishing company and we started using the exact same service to keep track of the images inside the books that we've made available online. Talk about a royal pain in the ass. We had to extract all the images from the PDFs and watermark them. Then re-insert the images back into the PDFs. Attaching the watermark to music files is probably easier, but the service isn't cheap and I doubt it will be used by many organizations. It's really more trouble than it's worth, but then I guess that's never stopped corporate idiots before.
Maybe the big labels know what a helluva lot of music lovers know, that a lot of "music" that is out there just plain SUCKS. DRM or no DRM.
Maybe we like the artists that the major labels employ. We shouldn't like the artists because the companies they work for suck? The whole "there's other music to listen to" argument is stupid. People want to listen to what they want to listen to. DRM is just a nuisance that will hopefully go away just like the crappy music won't get listened to because it's just crappy.
There are millions of people living in rural areas in the United States that are not served by cable TV. Satellite is, of course, the option in those areas if they choose to do so, but plenty of people don't care about having 200 channels of shit on the TV to choose from (choose from...choose from...choose from...)
"A lot is happening beyond the popular operating system." You penguin lovers sure do like to exaggerate don't you. And besides a smattering of corporations that have it loaded on web servers and the 30 or so of you who actually have it installed and running a web browser (big whoop), who is this barely usable by non-geeks OS popular with? Bill Gates is my lord and savior and you all need to repent. If it wasn't for Microsoft this page would still be a bulletin board. So there. Nnyeh.
In any court case for any matter the lawyers are always the only ones who benefit. Law is for lawyers and their enrichment. It stopped being about justice years and years ago.
Wow. So many RPG geek haters on this one. GoW rocks hard so quit hatin' just because your sensitive constitutions can't handle hard kore shootemups. Grow a pair and then you can comment.
All this proves is the one thing that most of us have known for years: People are stupid.
No matter what security policies are in place, stupid people will circumvent them out of laziness or just disregard them because they are stupid.
This is not news.
If there was ever a story posted that there was more of that we aren't being told it's probably this one. C'mon, what company in it's corporate addled mind would bother with the expense if there wasn't more to this story that isn't being shared? I'm not falling for this banana in the tailpipe.
I don't put up with anything. XP works great for me and runs on 3 computers at home 24/7 without a hitch and has for years now. MS has been nothing but helpful since our relationship began with Windows 3.1. My experience with MS has been nothing but positive so I wouldn't know how to not be a fan, but I'm certainly not anti linux if it makes sense, but with the average user who just want what works without a steep learning curve MS is the obvious way to go and that's all this guy wanted anyhow was to get his Windows back. So your suggestion was counter productive to what his goal was and a totally predictable response from a MS-hating linux fanboy. I'm sure if he took the time to explain the situation to MS, like most every other post pointed out can be done, his problem would be solved in no time.
Gee, I bet your kids are thrilled when you show them up and embarrass them like that. Why don't you show the stupid half of the kids how to use the calculator so that that half doesn't get the wrong answer? Quit showing off and teach them some learnin'!
Right. But most folks aren't running out buying 50" screens. If I had bought the 37" I still probably wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade my DVD to HD-DVD. We'll see when I get that 108" LCD installed and maybe then I'll choose to upgrade.
Take the game and name it something else and you've got a smash hit.

Oh, I thought you were whining still over the election 6 years ago. I'm just so tired of hearing about it. It's over, move on. (.org)
I misunderstood and the Congress remark was just a throwaway line anyway. I prefer moderation as well, but I like to pick on Democrats because it's fun to be a bully sometimes, but like I said, in moderation.
Waaahhh, the election was stolen, waaaaaaaaahhh!! Let it go already. You got Congress back you bleeding heart commie!
Just more sour grapes

Exit polls? I intentionally give the opposite answer whenever anyone asks me anything at the polls because it's absolutely on one's business but mine. Dick move or not I'm sure I'm not the only "dick" that does this. Exit polls be damned.
This isn't off topic, but right on target as to the persistent anti-American sentiment that is fouling this news site. So fuck your mother. On second thought, I doubt she's worth a good fuck.
Look, Global Warming IS A THEORY. The only way the theory will be proven to be a fact is time. History will determine if the theory is correct or not. The problem is that the religious idiots are ruining the whole argument. Ya know, life isn't for everyone. If there was ever a species that deserved to become extinct it's the religious fanatics. At least they provide a good source of humor for the rest of us when they're not muckin' things up.
"History of sound technology in PCs"? Seriously. Who gives a shit. Let's move along people. Nothing to see here lookey lews.

We've been Slashvertised! It's as good a reason as any why more options weren't offered up.

That means my dream of becoming an aerospace programmer is still alive!
More anti-Microsoft drivel. As if OSS ever HAD a halo, unless Bungie is using it in it's FPS engine.
Lawyers should be outlawed.

That's great advice. Not! You couldn't be any less helpful if you were an idiot fanboy. Oh...yeah...

I know HDTVs are selling very well, but regular DVD looks decent on my 26" HDTV LCD so what's my incentive to run out and buy either?
It's going to be at least a few years before people figure it's time to upgrade their relatively new DVD players.

Pfft. Stats. Very good statisticians can make stats say anything they want. Again, let it go already. The best man one. Deal with it.
