You may be explaining verbatim what your source said, but it is bullshit.
Anything that requires action on my part is going to be pretty obvious just by watching everyone putting on their lifejackets and/or trying to put their head in their crotch. I'm pretty sure I'll notice.
"What if everyone is on their headphones?" Look at the flight at 30,000 feet. Is everyone on their headphones? No. Enough people are there with someone else they are talking do that their actions will cause others to take notice.
Let's not forget how safe flying is, and quit treating it like it is something risky. Sit back, throw some tunes on, and chill.
the success of the PS4 will depend on the early adopter, hard-core gamer, the type of person who has likely put together a home-grown PC gaming system
Do you think a member of the PC Master Race would become such a peasant?
Note: I'm a former master race member who went to consoles, but not for the specs. I wanted the social interaction of multiplayer gaming on the same screen & couch, or with my friends that were console peasants as well. If I were going to drool over specs, I'd go back to building my own rig.
You and I might agree this is stupid, but the schools in my town are putting up "enhanced security" doors at the entrances to prevent someone breaking in to do a school shooting.
Of course, there are still a ton of windows that are at ground level & easy to shoot out & walk through. Better get to work on those iron bars....:-/
I really struggle with this in taking pictures of my jet-black Labrador Retrievers. I just can't get the same level of detail that my eyes can pick up.
"White" skin isn't really white, it is often pink/brown/yellow. It is a mid-range color, where "black" skin CAN be tan/brown or pitch black. When shooting someone that is very dark-skinned, it is fucking hard to get detail.
That's becasue its a server/browser issue, not an OS issue.
When the default browser is tied to the OS, and the OS will not permit running the latest version of that browser, it is an OS issue to me.
Has there been a successful XSS attack on a fully patched XP in the last 2 years?
No. If I were someone writing these, though, I would wait until April 2014 to release anything I had since Microsoft will not post fixes after this date.
First, I'm asking, not telling. If it were me or my wife, I'd likely do the exact same thing they they did. I've not gone through this. I've heard others that have say they wish they would have let go instead of fight it. I was curious if he felt the same way.
Second, to answer "who do you think you are": As someone who pays for insurance but has not had such an expense, I'm one of the people that paid for her procedure.
It is very hard to have these conversations, but they are needed.
It's not entirely clear, however, that reducing military spending would help the US economy.
If this is a reason to keep spending so much on the military, then we just need to accept that capitalism has failed & that a federally-managed economy is what we're doing.
I'm very sorry about your wife's death. I'm not sure how I would cope with that.
I would like to (delicately) point out what might have happened if you didn't have health insurance. Rather than paying $300,000, you and your wife would have had to come to terms that her time on Earth was now limited because you simply were not rich enough. Happens every day on this planet. Instead of painful chemotherapy, she would have been taking less expensive drugs to manage her pain while the two of you (or your families) spent her last 7 weeks of life focusing on her & enjoying the time you had.
I've known many people that have gone down this same road of clinging to life in pain instead of coming to terms with death.
As someone that has gone through this, looking back, which do you think would be better?
You're making the fatal assumption that the lightness of the element is directly related to how we store electricity using that element.
If we can find a way to store things in carbon (like MAYBE this), then it won't matter that carbon is heavier, it can still have higher density by energy/mass.
I think the Surface RT can only be described as "inexplicable".
In terms of program compatibility, it is exactly like the iPad. iPads can's run Mac apps, period.
The problem is that if you want an iPad, you'll buy an iPad. Buying a Microsoft knock-off of an iPad is only something that one does if they're 100% invested in Microsoft's ecosystem.
So, regardless how many times you've been on a 757, you watch the attendants demonstrate the use of the seat buckle & air mask? You pull out the card & review it? You look behind you for the nearest exit? You never read a book or anything during this time?
Don't confuse ignoring simple, yet stupid requests with stupidity.
and they would have to have the private key to Google's server certificate (or the signing certificate, if they were to perform MITM attacks)
Perhaps we're asking the wrong questions. Maybe it is true that Google never gave them access to their servers.
Has anyone asked if the government has demanded the TLS private keys? Could Google even answer that question? Could they have just planted someone into each CA to take them? That doesn't seem that hard to do. Having top-secret clearance on your resume would help you get hired at a CA, not count against you.
As much as some may call it security theater, there are real risks with getting that many people together on an airplane loaded with fuel which can go anywhere.
None of those risks are solved by the security theater that is being done.
There really is only that one answer.
I know! The NSA's snooping combined with the TSA's probing have kept us safe. Amen.
The moon treaty failed, and no one that has gone to the moon or plans to have signed it.
The Outer Space Treaty does some of what you're saying, though.
I've love to watch this video, but the 2-minute IBM advert is too much for me to handle...

31 games with split-screen. Only two of them are ones my friends play.
106 on Xbox 360 using your same site.
Yes, it exists, but in *this* case, PCs are limited.

Try it sometime and you'll be passed left and right.
Only if you're that asshole who is in the left lane when not passing...

Your experience is wrong.
Cross-site scripting has allowed ads on very normal sites (MSN.com, CNN.com, etc) to infect XP computers that are fully patched.
Thank you.

Security makes pretty much everything in IT more difficult, complicated, and less convenient, not to mention expensive.
There are exceptions. SSH instead of Telnet, and HTTPS instead of HTTP are quick, free, easy, and transparent to the user.
If only someone could combine the openness of Minecraft with the modem-equivalent of Myst graphics.
I lived through low-res games, so Minecraft isn't quaint to me, it is shit graphics but a great concept otherwise.

Windows tablets also DO NOT run native windows programs.
True for Windows RT tablets. Not true for Windows Pro tablets.

IIRC, getting to try number 10 takes a LONG time. I think getting to try number 6 or 7 was a few hours apart.
If someone breaks into my house I can shoot them thanks to castle laws, there is no digital equivalent other than hacking them back.
The digital equivalent would be to infect/hack them WHILE THEY ARE CONNECTED to you during their hack, as a means to make them stop.
As soon as they disconnect and you track them back down, you're talking about walking into THEIR house and shooting them. That's still murder.
