If you overstuff a reply envelope, they will simply discard it. To say nothing of dumbass things like taping it to a brick. They pay a first-class rate per-piece no matter what, so just send it back completely empty. Less effort for you, same expense for them.
> ATI/AMD hasn't been competitive with NVIDIA for two product cycles
Competitive enough anyway. Long as I'm still on AGP, I'm still getting ATI cards (nVidia's agp offerings have classically been highly crippled beyond just running on AGP). But sure, I'm a niche, and truth be told, my next system will probably have nVidia.
But gamer video cards aren't everything, and I daresay not even the majority. If you have a flatscreen TV, chances are good it's got ATI parts in it. Then there's laptops and integrated video, nothing to sneeze at.
Elemental Warrior would be a Shaman, no? Or you're talking about actually transforming... Might be a nice "prestige class" edition if they do the Emerald Dream as an expansion (though they're hinting at doing it as a jumbo expansion to WotLK, much like the way they added the Sunwell isle)
Lived in Denver and San Francisco, and I've never seen a light without the delay. Hell, downtown Denver is where they coined the "Denver Stop", where all the lights go red to allow for pedestrian crossing in all directions. SF only has a few of those. Of course it also has Clement st, where at the avenues it's more of a loose intermingling of cars and people in all directions at all times.
Also, the economy was 98% player based, with player crafted goods, player-run vendors, and even entire new player-made towns Most of WoW's economy is player-based too. Most people stop shopping at vendors after level 10 or so, if they ever used them at all. It's just that it's all virtual.
I kind of wish for player-owned real estate, but in UO it turned much of Brittania into a giant suburb (and that's with like 1/40th of the player base of WoW). I just don't think there's a good solution to that problem.
> FYI Blizzard invented a game like this. Its called 'hardcore Diablo 2'.
I'd love to see a hardcore realm then. I don't even play PVP, but I think it'd be an interesting game. Unfortunately I also think it'd be full of nothing but Holy Paladins with a bubblehearth macro on a hotkey.
What just kills me is that they plan to have Death Knights for both Horde and Alliance. Wonder how they're working out the story for that one.
Logically the Scourge is its own faction, but I think the Horde/Alliance dichotomy is so hardwired into the WoW codebase, it'd be impossible to add a third faction.
> LinkedIn asks me if I want to "connect" to certain people that I know for sure my only contact with them has been through mail on my gmail account.
Sure you've never had public correspondence with said people? LinkedIn is perfectly capable of searching the internet, such as Google Groups for example, and connecting it with your email.
The JREF is getting rid of the $1M challenge altogether, actually. Apparently it took up too much time and became a distraction from the other activities they wanted to pursue. Hopefully some more effective outreach is in the plans, but I don't see it happening. Frankly I've never been a big fan of Randi's rhetorical style and thus the dramas that surrounded the prize, but I suppose it was better publicity than no publicity.
It's a PCI device that requires a bridge chip to work on PCI Express... but there's no PCI version to be found, unlike its more expensive D2X cousin (which lacks front-panel connectors). Bah. One of the reasons for me to buy a nicer soundcard is to take the load off my aging CPU.
Well, speaking of Apple, you don't want to count the PPC line out yet. I mean yeah, you can strike it from Apple's current roadmap, but if Intel sits on its heels, they do have PPC who would like to come back from behind, and Cell which would like to become more mainstream.
The travel time helps prevent flash crowds, which keeps the server load more even, not to mention being an essential element in reacting to attacks. Location still has to mean something.
I suppose the trouble of walking to the portal is the next thing you want to get rid of. And next, perhaps combat should resolve instantly. Maybe get rid of the annoying graphics and sounds while you're at it.
Get yourself a warlock and another friend. Travel problem solved.
Hey, I like fishing. Anyway, it's not mandatory (unless perhaps you're a hunter with a cat). I wish they made the prize fish more like other fishing games, where you have to fight it for a while.
Whenever I start a new human, and the very first guy you talk to says "And I don't mean farming!", the very first thing I shout is "/yell YES YOU DO MEAN FARMING!"
Hasn't really changed the camping behavior tho. I suggest instant respawn for someone killed by a player within a minimum distance of the graveyard. Insta-zerg.
The change to the queueing is still nice, and it's like having leagues. It'd be nicer if they had BG ladders tho. Or frankly, a ladder system that wasn't a complete joke for Arenas (read the comment about how Blizzard only cares about Level 70's. Arena is another one of those things).
Really, WoW is more about innovation of the business, not the product.
I'm not so much looking for "audio gear" as I am for onboard sound that'll do at least 5.1 surround when I feel like plugging it into my rather cheap stereo, and one that otherwise doesn't click and pop like my onboard sound does when I'm playing games. Any features that enhance the gaming end would be gravy.
I'm sure even a Creative card would be fine for those purposes, but I just don't want to send them any money.
It didn't work in the US... Of course it works! For example, there is a very healthy and competitive DSL resale market in Germany. I'd like to be the first to give a big American welcome to our 51st state, Germany!
> I did not realize they were using drivers to lock out capabilities on identical hardware. That is truly shady dealings, IMHO.
Think of it like software. It costs a software company nothing extra to distribute the full Enterprise version of their product, but you pay less for the standard version. They developed a single hardware platform, but you need to pay extra for the features. They just made sure the protection was implemented in hardware.
Now their business of using updates to actually remove features from an existing product line, that crosses a line.

Huang is obviously ethnic Chinese. It is likely he is imitating something he heard in a movie or TV show.
Yeah, them slanty-eyed furriners just can't speak English right, can they?
Huang is over 40 years old and has lived in the US since he was a child. Idiot.

I'd like to introduce you to the concept of A Joke.
Actually, I'd like someone else to.
Okay, you can quest your way to 70, but let's take a look at the starting human quests:
... other quests ...
* Collect Wolf Pelts
* Kill Kobold Vermin
* Kill Kobold Workers
* Kill Kobold Laborers
* Collect Burlap Bandanas
*
* Collect Linen Bandanas
* Collect Leather Bandanas
* Collect Woolen Bandanas
* Collect Silk Bandanas
Around that point, I'm starting to wonder whether I'll have to collect Mageweave and Netherweave bandanas eventually

Know how much bandwidth a mail server needs? Quadruple it. That's just to handle the spam. Is that free?

Then, around 1980 something changed his mind and he became a republican supporter and member of the NRA etc.
He did die of Alzheimers.
Interesting though, I'd thought he was right-wing ever since he was a fertilized egg.
Others do it first. Blizzard does it right. They're the FreeBSD of game dev shops.
A scope for a sword? That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard in my life!
Now pardon me, I have go go sharpen my blunderbuss.

The worse part is that they ARE the BIGGEST SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY IN THE WORLD,
Actually that's probably a good part of the reason they fail so often. No one equates "big" with "nimble".
