Obviously nothing is 100% efficient, but copper over a short run is so damn close, you'd have to be a nitpicking ninny (or a physicist, which you are clearly not) to insist on the distinction.
Go smoke some more of your iHerb and mellow out.
I wasn't talking about everyone on the show, just one versed in the scientific method to steer the experiments toward something closer to valid results, instead of just cool explosions (based upon which they nearly always offer definitive judgments).
I've often wondered why Mythbusters producers didn't aim to give the show some credibility by hiring someone with at least a tiny bit of scientific training, or someone who went to college even. But then I remember, its an entertainment endeavor not a scientific endeavor, hence the special effects "experts".
Not slow, accelerate. Have you ever rode in the middle of a merry-go-round and then moved to the outside to feel it accelerate? Now tell me a 700 pound satellite on a 100,000 mile tether won't impart any rotational force on the earth.
No, but a small rock stuck in the tire's tread can affect the constancy of rotational velocity. Now imagine that rock is on a 10 foot tether attached to the tire (adequate space is given around the tire to allow the rock to spin freely). The proposed height of space elevators is 100,000km. With a typical 700 pound satellite near the top, centripetal force will amplify that to the equivalent of a small moon sitting on the ground. Hardly a fly on the antenna.
Am I the only one who thinks that a space elevator based on a tethered weight in space(if it actually worked) would drastically alter the Earth's rotation?
I have been enjoying "watch now" piped from my PC into my TV for more than a year now. Its great for instantly getting a movie to entertain the kids or watching 80's tv shows. Over last few months, though, ever since they have pushing set top boxes to increase their user base, there has been big lags in the middle of the movie streaming. It always says that my bandwidth has decreased, but when I check it at speedtest.net, it's just fine. Personally, I don't think their servers can handle the increased use the service has been getting because of the set top boxes, x-boxes, apple-tvs, etc. I hope they improve their capacity soon.
The USA does more than 'suggest' that: there's a NOFORN caveat for classified documents that means 'no one who is not a natural-born citizen may have access.'
Actually the NOFORN caveat does not pertain to anyone's birth country, it just means that the marked item is only releasable to those who currently hold US citizenship. That said, it is more difficult for recent immigrants to obtain clearance since their background is much harder to investigate.
Hasn't he noticed that hybrid sales are rapidly declining (even in the face of record gas prices). The truth is hybrids are not economically feasible due to the high cost (and rediculously high environmental cost) of batteries. There is no way to ever recover the cost difference. And with VW's new diesels getting better mileage than the hybrids, they're definately on they're way out.
I do because they are the only provider of broadband in my neighborhood. Even Qwest, who owns my phoneline, claims they can't give me DSL. How Earthlink does it (on that same phone line) is a mystery to me. Anyway the speed is decent, the price is good, and I only have to battle customer service for randomly changing my rate every few months or so.
Actually lower pressure pulls to toward it.

and it's 100% efficient!

If they ban incandescents, what will become of Easy Bake Ovens? Oh the humanity! When will ever learn?
This mock up will come in quite handy when they fake the Mars landing.
Seriously, it's best to keep old people off the net. They'll just end up giving your inheritance to some Nigerian barrister.

Really weird. We have about 15 oak trees on our lot in Nashua, NH and we had noticed the complete absence of acorns this year as well.
There's already a method of paying at the table and it does include splitting the bill between as many patrons as you like. They call it "cash".

Anybody else expect to see a rise in Nigerian Barrister scams?
Now there is a record that will last til the beginning of August. (Think Vegas)

Well, since it's inflatable, if it's abandoned, shuttle astronauts could just make a quick detour past it and toss a dart at it.
