AJ I just wanted to formally apologize. I thought you were being an ass lol. I read that right after some jerk kicked my kid int he mall while I was shopping and I didn't catch the reference....AT ALL. AJ, I truly apologize for letting one jerk get to me enough that I missed a Futurama quote. To one and all AJ rocks and I am an asshat. Warmest Regards and Happy Holidays - W
Judging from past comments you have made (some insightful and thoughtful) I have absolutely no idea why you would take the time to be such an ass. Thanks for sharing that thought though. Made my day. Good reading.

Beyond this, the best items in the game can not even be purchased with gold. All of it has to be done through working with other players to down interesting bosses that require teamwork and strategy. This is really where the game begins. Whacking a few bunnies at low level isn't going to show you anything.
Only problem with this is a lot of these raids take so many people that you will almost never get the item you want. There are a lot of corrupt guilds that won't let you roll on items you should be able to use. If I can wear it I should be able to roll on it. Period. Thats not to mention the ninjas....
I used t play WoW. I am quite bored with it now but I played for about a year. I played through to lv 60 twice and enjoyed everything but the buying and selling. Epic items cost way too much for me (a hardcore gamer to my wife but actually a casual gamer to the Slashdot crowd no doubt) to get many.
In the last two months of playing I made a discovery that just about blew my mind. For those not in the 'know', Blizzard allows a certain amount of mods to be used in game. These do various things such as map enhancements, custom button grouping etc. Now one of these is called auctioneer. What it does is make you money. Not just a little bit but a whole CRAP PILE of money. This mod will NOT get you banned from WoW that I know of either.
How does it work, you ask? Glad you asked. Its very simple. If you have ever heard the phrase "Buy low. Sell High" well no truer words have ever been spoken about this addon. It scans the auction house for items that are being sold under the mean asking price. So if the average price of a stack of gold bars is 2g (for instance) and there are 5 auctions with bids below it will flag them and allow you to bid on them. You can say show me items with a bid
I struggled with the morale of using such a tool, but as my subscription was running out I wanted to see how much gold I could make in my last 30 days. I tried to do this on paper for a few weeks early in my WoW career but it is a tiresome process. I had about 6G in the bank. I would run this once a day and by the second to last day I had over 1000g in the bank! Broken or what? It was then I realised I would never play again. What is the point? If its that easy and I can buy whatever I want then there certainly is little use in playing.
Oh well. y other $0.02 is that I don't think I can support Blizzard too much any more. I loved Diablo2 and WoW for a time but I can't stand it when companies treat their customers like criminals. Close the loops you idiots! Don't blame the guys that spent possibly $100(s) on your @$%^ games. Its THEIR (read: Blizzard's) fault.
If I am not mistaken, this is illegal in Canada. You cannot put a "boot" on a vehicle here. Something to do with unlawful confinement or some malarky like that. This is not to mention that the company who hands out the fines is a private company. bad enough they can have you towed. They took away their customer service phone number and now have concentrated on making it a collections deprtment. There is very little recourse to plead your case anymore. If the parking dudes say you are guilty then you are guilty and god help you if you dont pay. They get pretty nasty. My wife got some calls for them for a ticket that must have fallen off her windshield (wink sure honey). Being a Vancouver resident, I hate driving downtown at any time. One of the worst places to try to drive or park. I park my car elsewhere (for cheaper) and take the Skytrain downtown. Its a small area. You can walk anywhere downtown very quickly or hope a bus. The train costs $2.25 to $4.50. Waaaaaaay cheaper than parking costs. The worst part of driving downtown is the pedestrains who have no compulsion to move out of a vehicle's way red light, green light or otherwise. It is normal to see 10 people crossing the street when they have a red light.
Since the NDA has been lifted I may say that the game is not good. Despite ads or no ads I won't be shelling out my hard earned $15 / month to play it anyways. The game lacks depth, character and substance such as can be found in WoW.(Although after reading I may get banned for using my Logitech G15 keyboard I may to form a new opinion on how much I like WoW,)
I wanted so much to love this game, being a fan of Car Wars and all. Here is something I found at Gamespot ont he subject of ads...
"NCsoft and Massive ink deal to put ads in upcoming online role-player.
It's hard not to have an opinion about the trend to stream ads into game environments. Now, regardless of what that opinion might be, there's a bit more fat to throw on the fire.
Today, Massive Inc. and NCsoft North America will announce that the upcoming game Auto Assault will ship with the Massive SDK built in. That software application enables ads to stream into the game environment.
Calling the inclusion of ads in the Auto Assault gameworld "a great fit," NCsoft's VP of sales and marketing, Dorothy Ferguson, said, "Massive understands games and has the most seamless and sophisticated process for integrating ads that fit within the game environment." (Note the "billboards" in the two associated screenshots...likely positions where ads could be placed.)
Auto Assault is a Mad Max-like online role-playing game due at retailers next month. It comes from Colorado-based developers NetDevil and was first shown at 2004's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
In a statement, Nicholas Longano, chief marketing officer of Massive, said, "We're excited to team with NCsoft to incorporate real-life advertising into this cutting-edge, highly anticipated game."
Massive made waves back in 2005 when founder and CEO Mitchell Davis went on the stump to evangelize the Massive business model--a network of professionals that would supply the SDK to game developers and publishers and then solicit ad agencies and marketers to buy "space" inside the game as one would buy outdoor or magazine ads. The ad revenue would then be split between the game publisher and Massive.
The company says that it has deals in place with 34 publishers to put the Massive SDK in more than 100 games and that already the company has streamed ads into more than "45 million game sessions."

End rant.
