I think he's trying to show off the flexibility of the RAGE engine. Let's face it, id's first engine titles are showcases to win licenses...that's where they make their real money. Think Quake 3 engine, and (a failure to many) the Doom 3 engine.
That's total crap, a fiduciary responsibility to share holders doesn't mean that the company leans "right." You can't confuse a fiduciary duty with a political stance; lobbying for profits is neither right or left anyhow. I think you are just as trolling as the article, for the mere fact that you have labelled all lobbying and corporate interest not the "general interest" as "right wing." That alone shows which way you lean, "my side does no evil." It's like Glenn Beck calling obvious right wingers "progressives" because they don't fit his cutout.
You're an idiot, the military doesn't stick any moron on a nuclear submarine, or in a command and control computer lab. That's why they have aptitude tests. The fact is this article is dumb for two reasons: it assumes the military does no testing on who is at any given job, and that the military doesn't train people to do their specific tasks. Most people in command and control are from the Air Force...and anyone can tell you that just like not anyone get to fly a jet, not just anyone gets to sit in front of a computer with root access. You'd think all the geeks on Slashdot would be able to figure that out...
Of course BP is going to do this, of course they are going to do damage control. You honestly think their PR department should be a mile down plugging a hole? or that a few million in advertising is really going to help with the clean up? Give me a break. People have taken their newly found hatred for BP and turned it into something absolutely ridiculous, so ridiculous in fact that it ignores that...PR and advertising departments have...nothing to do with engineering. Not only that, but the story itself is blatantly bias, as buying advertising is hardly "stopping the flow of information." BP got what's coming to them, but that is hardly a reason to make up fairytale business practices and be completely bias in our narrative about the spill. The crap people are spewing about BP is about as bad, if not worse, than the PR campaign BP is running trying to salvage their brand equity.
They can request searches though, the police aren't going to raid someone's house out of the goodness of their hearts without someone having requested it by filing more than litigation charges. I don't see how finding an iPhone is stealing. I guess I've stolen quite a few pennies and dollar bills over the years from the grasps of the sidewalk. The fact that people are defending Apple's retarded actions is more appalling than anyone's lack of knowledge.
Not to fail to mention, that since we don't know alternative outcomes, that the death of an infant Hitler could make something worse come about. I mean, as morbid as it sounds, Hitler's very existence could have prevented something or someone worse (for instance our complacency in less checks and balances, etc)...theoretically at least.
Capitalism and Democracy (direct or representative) go hand-in-hand, and it's very difficult to separate the two. How can you have true political freedom if you don't have economic freedom too?
If it's an "executive order," under a National Security Directive it doesn't come under judicial or congressional scrutiny...I could be wrong, but I think that's correct
I don't think we are "wrapping the war up" at all, we are still keeping troops in Iraq and are increasing our presence in Afghanistan...also the newspapers weren't necessarily the influence, it is usually attributed to Walter Cronkite, for decreasing his reporting and putting more opinion. Since he was so well respected, it just became the norm, and now the media has pretty much turned into one huge opinion piece with some small facts in the background.
I use both of them, along with Photoshop to design some websites, you still have to get the templates set up if you want a unique style in Drupal...it's like saying that Wordpress is going to kill Dreamweaver. This web designer needs to be smacked.
Just because people hate Microsoft on Slashdot doesn't mean you can ignore a products features. Let's start off, you have different settings to render your song in, if you insert Notorious B.I.G.'s voice into a polka like filter...the song is going to sound horrible. The software is not intended to be the end result of the music, and these videos are just parodies more or less, if you actually used the correct functions of the software it wouldn't sound that bad. In fact, the idea of the software is for people to have fun with it, and to help musicians with writers block come up with chord progressions for songs using the software. You won't actually use a techno beat in the background if you don't want (though apparently that means a hit nowadays), you can use the same tempo that the software gives you, which makes the song infinitely easier to record in final product. The software is actually very good for what it's price, etc, if you take time to mess around with it, it's very similar to "band in a box", but slightly cheaper and more user friendly. I find the product to be very interesting, and I would love to see them develop it more in depth, with more chords, rhythms and possibly add make-shift lead parts.
Just reading this article and him writing it had a significant global impact according to his own report. He just created more CO2 emissions by posting his article than most people will emit during a year of Google searches.
Also, this is where the climate change movement loses it's precedence.
As dumb as this might seem, the bright side is that hopefully they now start treating Anime as they would Max Hardcore...almost all Anime tentacle death rape sickness includes underage individuals
In all honesty, aside from the iPhone and iPod Touch, the Zune is actually a better player than the iPod; He probably likes it because it has radio, among other things.
This is obviously a result of their growing user base, much like Windows more market share means more viruses or attacks...but not always, of course. I think this happens, because not only is their market share expanding, but their consumers are getting dumber. It's easy to get someone to put a virus on their own computer when they don't know what's going on. Even with Windows a smart user can avoid viruses, but incompetent users are more prone to viruses.
I'm waiting for it to be delayed until 2012 and for people to flip out in a way not seen since "The Great Disappointment." We have a few years for people to build their bunkers before CERN starts back up. In all seriousness though, I can't wait for it to be turned back on, every day it's delayed is just delaying possible breakthroughs in science.
Well, either my keyboard is messed up or Slashdot had a small error, because I don't remember saying Nn instead of An or saying it instead of bit. Either way I'm sure I'll get flamed
Nn iPhone is more a necessity than a 500 dollar dentist bill or insurance payments?...ok, this is why I don't support the idea of "universal" healthcare. When people can't afford to blow $500 on something they don't need among other things, and still struggle, then I'll look into it.
Except with Facebook the developers didn't listen to anyone's suggestions, they could improve that style so much if they would just do some very minor things like content borders etc. As for iGoogle, I like the new design...but the sidebar is completely useless...so far at least.
This article raises such a good point, I mean Republicans don't have cell phones! This guy has figured out the riddle, I say.

Don't forget that netbooks usually ship with a 3G or 4G chip built in, an aircard for a laptop is about $100 by itself....

This is the exact same conclusion that (rather famous) economist William Jevons came to in 1865. Jevon's Paradox anyone? You can Google it.
If it's an "executive order," under a National Security Directive it doesn't come under judicial or congressional scrutiny...I could be wrong, but I think that's correct
He's the "Shamwow! guy" of "the status quo"...in other words.

Yes, that's exactly why Photoshop is dying too...no, wait

But when Google offers this, it's brilliant!
