MD sold very well in Asia, it is still used for many situations where live recording is necessary.
Compared to cassette tapes it offered higher quality sound, better recording functionality, better track management and in some cases could hold much more with minimal loss of quality. Also keep in mind in terms of quality ATRAC was a very good compression algorithm and if I recall correctly was released before MP3 hit the mainstream.
It was however very badly marketed in the West, lacked proper PC connectivity (you could record via optical out but by proper I mean it lacked drag and drop) until very late in its product lifecycle and you couldn't download songs via Napster.
Oh I've always liked Opera, I've just never found the adblock implementation as effective as the firefox plugin (especially with automated filter). Any other firefox plugin I could care less about but adblock was the 'deal breaker'.
While it is debatable as to whether Apple is too secretive for its own good, there is no denying that the company utilises rumour to build hype for its products through news blogs such appleinsider and thinksecret. The thing is about a rumour (that some people may forget) is that it can be both positive and negative for the subject in question. Sometimes rumours can backfire and this is just purely an instance of the Apple rumour mill NOT working in the company's favour.
Well I meant is that I think that some "smart" people who otherwise would prefer a more practical approach at higher education are put off because of this stigma. You end up with TAFE being full of these motivated people rather than smart people and the cycle continues.
I think in Australia traditionally you had technical colleges (such as TAFE) and Universities providing a clear difference in the direction of things being taught. Technical colleges producing "tradesmen" and Universities producing "thinkers".
The problem has been that increasingly universities have been seen by consumers as a way of getting a job rather than as a pathway to higher learning as academia and thus there is expection by them, to be taught "practical" skills. I think a reason for this is there is a small stigma attached to technical and trade colleges as being "dumber" than their uni counterparts. I think in this way, the problem is that consumers do not really understand what the function of universities are.
It has everything to do with protecting the US defense industry. Maintaining these new aircraft involves lots of money and no country but the US would want them to have a virtual monopoly. If I remember correctly Australia has similar concerns.
The ABC is government funded (like you imply), that's why there aren't any ads and that's a different situation to what the parent had in mind.
The commercial channels (ie. 7, 9 and 10 are sponsored by commercials and would probably be a better comparison (though still not entirely accurate to the parent's post context.
The nature of TV is simply too different in Australia to compare to the US market (I would probably argue that NO market is comparable to the US market).
All criminals? South Australia was founded as a 'free province'. Victoria and (I think) Western Australia were also free provinces but later accepted convicts.
Try some olive oil to remove. I know it sounds stupid but if you can take apart the CD case, put a bit of oil onto a cloth and give the residue a hard rub, then put it under hot water the residue comes right off.
You can buy some stuff that is made of olive oil and some other stuff that is designed to remove these sticker glue left overs (and is much easier to use), but I've always found that my way works too (as long as you can take apart your cd case).
Had a collection of co-op games for the Famicom: Jackal, Rush n' Attack, Twin Bee great fun
It's great that we can play online and all, but its not quite the same as having everyone in the same room with you and there's a lack of good co-op games that can be played in the one room on the one screen with only the one machine.
I'm not trying to defend the PS3 if it is indeed hot, but i think that there is a difference if the heat is being expelled from the machine (which means the fan is doing a good job) and if the machine is hot itself.
This must call for a "You must be new here" type comment doesn't it?

Well if it looks like s@#$ and smells like s#$% it's probably IS the MPAA

So does this make Apple Al Qaeda?

Drop bears... it's the drop bears you have to really worry about!
Exactly! The question itsslf is 'loaded' anyway, it assumes that OSX doesn't already have more DRM implementation than Microsoft...

yes it can, but it's an expensive optional 3rd party accessory.

I believe that most large firms do the same thing too (work for gratis)
Do you get to choose what pro-bono work you do?
I don't think it has anything to do with free speech.
Starr is said to be arguing the case for free.
Think free as in free lunch (not like fsf) and that pro-bono work is lawyer speak for "Can't get a paying job and I need the PR"!

I believe the word that you are looking for is Truthiness!
DARPA must be simulating giant enemy crabs (or even more appropriately, real-time weapon changing)!
Thanks to the the FTA it is!
Your dear father needs a Japanese dictionary!

Clarification please Are they your impressions? Also could you link to those various Japanese sites?
I too thought it might have been a language support problem. It could be perhaps a documentation problem?
