Actually you'll get the Cocoa API's as noted directly in the presentation (re: Core Animation). So it's running, at minimum, with the newest Leopard APIs. Development will likely be handled with Apple's development suite. Just FYI.
The problem isn't the Pande group or their effort to get an OSX/Intel client, it's the compilers that are required that are not yet available, or may not become available. It's not as if they can throw it into XCode and just make a Universal Binary.

From Vijay Pande:
Keep in mind too that, at least right now, FAH draws only 80W from each GPU, so it's a surprisingly energy efficient folding farm too.
Yes, but "knowing how you think" isn't ideal when working with a group of developers. To place that thought in more technical terms, it becomes a "cluster fuck."

Here is an observation: With all the publicity Ruby on Rails and other frameworks like Zend Framework, Turbogears and the like are receiving these days--why are we not seeing an innumerable number of security trolls like Chris Shiflett on the *framework side of web development? My thoughts are that PHP users are told "you can too" when in many cases, with forums other resources like the ten gazillion books, they *can*, to an extent (but either with really bad help or books assuming the reader is not working on a *real* project).
Conversely, Rails, Turbogears and Symphony are, too, saying "you can too." Yet, where are the security trolls? It seems though that the *actual* users of the *frameworks, the ones using them for real-life projects are those who have struggled with PHP and (perl, python, etc...) CGI programming for so long and decided "fuck it." Things like database abstraction (and therefore quoting, etc), single-entry-point, and template-safety are, in the most part, taken care of for you.
Wait, if some one could please explain to me... I've never really seen the advantage of using "css tables" with block elements *told* to act like table elements as apposed to actual tables? Isn't that kind of counter-productive? If you want to do a 3 column design, there are _hundreds_ of tutorials out there to help you (fuck--one every other day on digg). It appears that many CSS zealots can not comprehend the idea of a "float and container" setup and end up bitching about the lack of "CSS table support," while all the time, CSS tables are merely *simulating* a REAL table.
I've tried Maya (evaluation), 3DS Max (cad), AutoCad and Friends (cad), etc. They all have very different interfaces. These are the few that would seem to define "convention," yet they are totally different. They are also hardly within the "hobbyist" price range. Blender is well within the hobbyist price range, has some decent, free documentation. The "getting started" range of documentation is actually quite good.
Not to mention people are free to, for example, fork the project and make it how they wish.
If you watch "The Making of" for Elephants Dream, you'll see that they looked plenty productive and the new node compositing (think Shake) looks down-right sick!

P.S. XSS is not a PHP problem!
I used to work in a video store and un-rewound DVD's were a never ending problem.

Wait, what? Steer clear from Blender or 3D modeling in general?

Seriously. Even wanting to bitch about piracy there and now is disgraceful when there are more important things at hand.

I like how, after reporting only making $100mil where they should be making $1bil, they announce they will invest $900mil to try and fix it.
