It's like you're my sock puppet - you do everything exactly as I tell you.
Lets see if it works again - this time I predict that your reply will be both content-free & contain a not-particularly-intelligent insult.
many tens of millions of subsidized instant eWaste phones
Speaking of eWaste, it's a pity Apple doesn't:
1) Not use toxic chemicals like brominated flame retardants and Polyvinyl Chloride in the iPhone (Nokia & Ericsson don't). 2) Offer free take-back for the iPhone (Nokia & Ericsson do). 3) Make a user-replacable battery (Nokia & Ericsson do).
So, how exactly is the (also-subsidized) iPhone superior from an eWaste perspective to its competitors?
The iphone took about 2.5% (you were off by an order of magnitude). Don't get me wrong, this figure is very impressive for a new entry to the mobile market, but falsely inflating figures just makes you look stupid.
Or perhaps you don't know the difference between 'phone' & 'smartphone'?
Roughly Drafted is poorly written & not credible. Please don't link to it - as the unofficial apple weblog puts it:
Posts like this that use underhanded techniques and shoddy math to prove a biased point aren't helping the Mac community. In fact, they're making it look even worse because, once found out, they are (rightfully) transformed into key evidence for clueless Apple fanaticism, which can easily harm the reputation of almost anyone with something genuinely educated and relevant to say about Apple or their products, whether it's a good or *gasp* unpleasant statement.
If you're an Apple fan - don't link to RD; that website actually hurts, rather than helps Apple.
Even at $10 a gallon, I'll still enjoy driving my 6K
At $10/gallon, you're SUV is going to be worth more as scap than a car. Do you enjoy burning $1000 bills? 'cause with your SUV purchase, you've burned about 10 of them.
Oh - and what do you think's going to happen to real estate prices on your (public transport isolated) street once gas prices hit just $5/gallon? Your house will never be worth what you paid for it - and you won't be able to afford to drive between their & your work place.
Makes the $10k you lost on your SUV look like chump change, but again - you can't say no one warned you.
The current generation of SUVs will inevitable end up in the hands of young drivers. Those will be even less aware of the extra dangers a SUV presents while being in traffic.
Fortunately, these young people will not be able to afford to drive these out of their driveway.
Any SUV owners reading this? Look forward to watching the second hand sale value of your vehicle plummet even while fuel costs rise to the point where you can no longer afford to drive your (now) useless vehicle.
Don't like it? Bad luck. You can't say you weren't warned.
1) Your link is the same as mine - you need to click the 'link to this page' button. 2) I have no idea what time period you're referring to, but 45% gains hardly points to a company in decline. 3) Yes, Apple has done well since 2000 or so, but it's really just regaining the ground it lost during the disastrous Amelio years.
I'm sure that many people will point at his failures (IE6 for some activeX websites & visio) as proof that linux is still not ready for the desktop. But these apps aren't available for the Mac either & few are suggesting OS X is not ready for the desktop.
Unfortunately, what's preventing business's adopting Linux or OS X is the fact that the various 'solution providers' & VARs make more money reselling Microsoft products.
Cheap +5 Insightful: just say "All Americans suck because {insert generalization here}"
I have never seen an Insightful (let alone a cheap +5 Insightful) saying all Americans suck for any reason.
Perhaps you need to learn the difference between "All Americans" & "The American Administration"
(and {insert generalization here} & {insert valid reason here}
I challenge you to give me a single example of your sig.
Repeating yourself doesn't make you right - it makes your post without content.
Dual licensing means that Sun still has special rights
If Sun has copyright, they have special rights regardless of how many licenses they release Java under.
Frankly, if Java's released under a free license, its irrelevant what other licenses you use with it.
(is perl less free because of dual licensing? KDE?)
No content & a cheap insult!
I am proved correct (yet) again.
WMF: I look forward to your content-free reply.

Because I didn't bother destroying your other points.
Because you can't destroy my other points.
I look forward to your content-free reply.
Although Recycle is less important than reuse.
Thanks for your agreement that Apple is 33% as green as Nokia.
It's only trivially replicated if you have access to a mac. Most of us here probably don't.
1) If you don't have a mac, why do you care about the exploit?
2) If you care that much, but don't have access to Apple hardware, run OS X in virtual machine.
It's a submission from an anonymous user that doesn't cite any sources. That's pretty shoddy, even by Slashdot standards.
Are you really so lazy that you need a source for something so trivially replicated?
I take it that you can't find any flaws with the content of my post, so instead are attacking its grammar?
Since you still can't come up with anything wrong in what was actually an innocuous
But I wasn't commenting on the articles content. I was explaining that we shouldn't reward the RD blog authors for spamming Digg.
so post away and I'll not bother you further.
God let's hope so - but considering you're the guy who thinks some spam is noble & just... who knows?
In my book, trying to spam the wasteland that is Digg is a nobel and just cause
Well, I'm sorry - but in my book, trying to spam anywhere is neither noble, not just.
I'll leave you to your spamming now.

taking 27% of the new phones sold in the US
Wrong

You've linked to Roughly Drafted - the site that was caught trying to spam digg.

Read parent in gollum voice for maximum amusement.
So, You've borrowed money to pay for a second car, without considering the future costs of running the car?
You're damn lucky you haven't bought a house - you're the type who borrows without consideration of whether you can repay.
But I'm glad you find other peoples financial distresses fun.
You're not in financial distress - all you have to do is sell your two cars and catch the bus to work.
Even at $10 a gallon, I'll still enjoy driving my 6K

Let me spell it out for you. Decline != Income steadily increasing. (How can you not understand this?)
Check out this chart of IBM's net income
It's gone up consistently since 80s with the exception of the early 90s disaster years.
Honestly. *shakes head*. The stupidity of kids today never ceases to amaze me.
Sorry, I took decline to mean 'decline' rather than your definition (which appears to be 'growing, but not as much as they used to').
Linux has a Visio Clone: Kvivi
.vsd files. Unfortunately, neither Kvivio nor Dia can do that (not last time I needed it anyway).
The article was talking about interoperating with
Import the Cisco Symbols from DIA.
Why not just say "Linux has a Visio Clone: Dia"
Erm?

MS has started their decline, just like IBM did before them.
Uuuuuh? IBM? Decline?
Check out this (Year to date) stock chart of IBM vs MSFT (with AAPL thrown in for a reference point).
I'd love to be in 'decline' the way IBM is.
