    and from TFA:

    Semthex wrote a processor emulation for the kernel, to sidestep the hardware restrictions that previously disallowed Mac OS X from running on the Apple TV.
    Is there something I'm missing? If that's legal, what's to stop me putting a (legal) copy os OS X on any common-or-garden x86 box?

    I certainly don't want to live ina world where mass piracy has eliminated commercial entertainment and we have to rely on home-made movies dont by people in their spare time.

    I get where you're coming from - but I think even in a world where mass piracy predominated, there would still be craploads of commercial entertainment.

    Business models will change, but the entertainment industry will continue to thrive, LOTR-like movies will continue to be made.

    have raised several problems i have with inclusion of bloggers into the definition of Journalist that you have not even hinted at addressing.

    Well, if you'd actually read my posts, you'd see that I didn't say bloggers were journalists, but "A journalist is anyone who is invloved in the gathering and dissemination of information about current events, trends, issues and people". A blogger may fall into that definition, may not.

    So, as I see it, you have a problem with the inclusion of any blogger into the definition of journalist, I have a problem with all bloggers being excluded from the definition of journalist.

    Offtopic: I like your nick alot.

    No, the easiest Linux is Tivo.

    Well, I'd say an even easier linux is one used in a Wireless Access Point, comes preconfigured, plug it in & never touch it again.

    But that's not really what the article's talking about is it? It does't mean a single-use box like TIVO or a router, but a general purpose desktop.

    No, my original argument was simple. It breaks down to; bloggers can be journalists, here's a definition of journalist that agrees with me.

    Except that you weren't so much doing that as much as you were pointing out that some other people disagreed with him.

    No. I was pointing out that bloggers can be journalists (the argument) backed up with a definition of journalist that included bloggers.

    Add to that the fact that you really have yet to make a substantive reply to anything I've said on topic,

    That's because you thickie that my argument is not substantive. It can be broken down into four words. Bloggers can be Journalists. This stance I've backed up with definitions of journalist from Wikipedia, OED, Meriam/Webster, etc.

    What have you come up with? Nada, nothing, not a damn thing (unless we count your whining).

    I was disagreeing with both the content of the definition and the way in which you cited it as if it was all that could be said on the subject.

    Good for you! I was disagreeing with the parent's view that blogger!=journalism as if it was all that could be said on the subject.

    *yawn* How about the OEDs definition? Or Reference.com? Just bcause YOU don't agree with the dictionary & encylopedia definitions doesn't mean you can dismiss them.

    Using the word "journalist" to describe yourself does not define the quality of your writing. A blogger who's covering current events is a journalist.

    They're often crap journalists, I wasn't arguing that point.

    I don't agree. A journalist is anyone who is invloved in the gathering and dissemination of information about current events, trends, issues and people. (definition quoted from wikipedia).

    I have a video camera and an idea for a movie. That doesn't make me a fucking member of the Directors Guild.

    The Director's Guild is a union. You can be a director without being a member (you can't work on DGA signatory films tho'). George Lucas, Quentin Tarantino, and Robert Rodriguez are all not members.

    A prophylactic in its wrapper is quite small. If you've every used one, you would know...

    Righteo - I take it the prophylactics you've used are on the same sort of scale as everything else the GP mentioned. IE: You need a million-dollar electron microscope to see your prophylactics, it's small enough for ants to use, etc.

    I feel really sorry for your girlfried/boyfriend.

    It's only a hotkey to open the task manager.

    How do you login without using ctrl-alt-del? How about unlocking a locked XP session? Face it, this abomination of UI silliness is still neccessary all the time if you're unlucky enough to use windows.

    Maybe the control-alt-delete issue is fixed in Vista, but frankly it's one of the things that makes Windows not really ready for the desktop.

    While there are many UI design problems with Small Form Factor computers (particularly general purpose input), the issues in the article appear to be with Microsoft products, not Small FF PCs in general. From TFA:

    Watching users fumble and nearly drop an early version of the FlipStart compact PC...The culprit was the three-key sequence, Control-Alt-Delete, required to log off or reboot a Windows PC.
    Well, that's a windows issue, not a PC issue. The solution? (You can tell FlipStart is a project from one of the founders' of Microsoft):

    early adopters might get a kick out of FlipStart's solution: a dedicated key marked "Ctrl Alt Del."
    Brilliant. Utterly Brilliant. This is similar to having a problem with your kitchen floor being wet due to a leaking roof & building a floor-mopping robot as a solution.
