  1. Technology moves so fast... on Five Years of PC Storage Performance Compared · · Score: 1, Insightful

It's amazing what feats we have accomplished over the past five years. I really makes you wonder what storage technology we will have 50 years from now. I honestly can't wait to give my "in my day" speech to all the youngins when I'm 76.

"In my day, all our data was mostly stored on spinning magnetic disks... or platters as we used to call them..."

  2. Humor == Risk on Why Video Games Are Having a Harder Time With Humor · · Score: 0

Humor is subjective. Some people will find a joke hilarious, some will find it offensive, and others won't even get the joke. Modern games today have extremely huge budgets compared to games of old, and publishers see humor based games as a risk. In this case humor falls under the same umbrella as innovation. Publishers can't afford a humor based game that only a small amount of gamers will find funny, or even worse, drive most of them away.

  3. The real rason why Comcast is doing this. on Comcast DNS Redirection Launched In Trial Markets · · Score: 0

I had a friend once that didn't pay her Comcast bill. When this happens, all DNS requests get redirected to Comcast's "Oh hi! Please activate your modem" page. After thinking about this for a bit, I had the ingenious idea of using OpenDNS to bypass Comcast's DNS server. I set up her PC to use OpenDNS, and lo' and behold it worked. She was able to use the internet as if she paid her bills and everything. See, Comcast is doing this because they don't want anyone to cheat them out of their service. I'm pretty sure that this could work with any Comcast approved modem as well.
