Wow, your informative well thought out post was so incredible, I just had a brain aneurysm processing the wealth of intelligence it contained. You obviously understand programming, especially platform-independent programming, so well it is scary. It is just not fair that one AC should have so much divine knowledge.

Or you could just be a total trolling choad who has no concept of back-end and front-end when it comes to databases.

But I stick by my statement that only here would it get modded "Insightful". My criticism is with the moderators, not the statement. What is even more humourous is that I'm sure some of the folks who rant about stupid knee-jerk reactions to things will actually agree with your statements. Which is why I never use my real full name in email addresses, or social networking sites. I can't believe the information some people are just willing to put out there for anyone sometimes...

And for the record posting your information would not be "slanderous". Only if information is falsified or completely made up do you get into "libel". Slander = spoken, libel = printed. It would be hard to "slander" someone on the internet unless you were posting mp3 rants, or podcasts about them.

Generally, the manufacturers are barely breaking even or taking a small loss on the hardware end of selling printers. Consumables (paper and ink) and accessories (the $30 USB cable) are where all the profits are made in the printing category. This is especially true in the ultra-cheap low end printers. From what I have seen, the more you spend initially on a printer, the less you spend in the long run. And for any sort of volume, always buy lasers.

Depends on how you buy it. I buy 2-liter bottles all the time for about $1.29 or $1.39 (or sometimes even on sale for 99 cents) at the local gas station. This way, the price of Pepsi only works out to roughly $2.50 per gallon, give or take. When I worked at restaurants, we bought the 5 gallon syrup bags for around $45. They mixed 5 to 1 with water so each would make about about 30 gallons of Pepsi for about $1.50 per gallon, not counting water or water filter expenses. Pepsi gave us the dispenser to use free of charge, so no extra expense there either. The cup, lid, and straw were definitely the most expensive part of selling a cup of soda.
