And you are exactly what they call their "target demographic"...Don't think about it too much - it's what the "liberal media" wants you to do. Just go back and take every statement Bill O'Lielly makes as gospel truth. I mean, that's what news is for right, so you don't have to think about stuff...
"it'd be nice to have something to automatically pick out an outfit for the day that doesn't look like it was picked out by my pet dog or the Magic 8 ball"
They have that already - it's called "Girlfriend" or "Wife"
You give way to much credit to these "Billion dollar companies" as far as understanding the technology. Is it possible?? Sure..Is it probable?? No. They will just keep nailing the 12 year olds not smart enough to use PG. If a burgular approaches your house, sees bars on the windows, and alarm, and a dog - what are they going to do?? Think of a complicated way to enter?? No, they are going to go next door and break into an easier house.
They have tried this before http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literacy_test and it was flawed.
"The theoretical basis for them was that illiterate persons were not sufficiently informed about the candidates and issues involved to be able to make a truly informed decision. In practice, however, the literacy requirement was often used to prevent those determined by the ruling class to be undesirable, such as the poor, racial and ethnic minorities, and other groups that it wished to see disenfranchised, from voting."
Never trust a system rife with potential for abuse not to be abused.
And how can you have one definitive correct answer to a question like "Where does candidate X stand on this issue?" - it is impossible. Have you seen how long current voting takes at some voting places? Hours long lines and that is with just having to prove who you are, and not how smart you are...
That makes some sense, although if it were that easy to falsely trigger the WGA, I would think someone would have by now, bigger payoff later or not...
WGA exists now - how come this "magical hack" hasn't happened already??? And I'm sure if lowly Slashdotters are talking about it's potential for abuse, MS has thought of it too. Isn't it amazing that every few months you read about "the big hack" that is the Achilles heel of Windows and will bring down XX% of the world's computers - and it still hasn't happened. MS not only is still around, but still domminant.
I though Al Gore invented the Internet and JFK invented Usenet....and then some time later Natalie Portman invented Slashdot while heating some grits...
"when you start downloading a file, you expose your IP address to everyone that you're grabbing parts of the file from. Any one of them could be a government/MPAA/RIAA spy."
Sure, if you just use a torrent client wide open. Smart users will use something like Peer Guardian2 http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ to keep all the bad guys IP addresses from connecting to you...

Hello, you must be new here. Welcome to Slashdot! Please check the FAQ as it states implicitly that you must not check facts before complaining about anything Microsoft does.
No, what will be illegal is all the people who don't buy it, then download the torrent with the spyware removed/disabled. Way to go EA, encourage people to illegally obtain your product because the legal version sucks...This is like the online music/DRM argument all over again. When are companies going to learn - people will not pay extra (or anything) for software that comes with undesireable features, if they can get the same software elsewhere without said features.

You mean like any boy band or Brittney Spears songs??

And now the Mossad are entering your information into their new Core 2 system..
Everytime I see that quote, I picture Dubya, can of Coors in one hand, heavy metal horns upraised in other, rocking out to The Who...

That's exactly what people were saying about bittorrent when they were going after all the other P2Ps...
"Enter promo code DRDOBBS for a $10.00 discount."
BOB DOBBS has so much slack he doesn't need to use discounts....

So does that mean if I visit Slashdot while Battlefield is running the game will be covered with ads featuring Natalie Portman and hot grits?

Since the average American thinks it is. It is easier to just make Japan a part of China than to try an re-educate all those Americans.
You have to read the AC post I was replying to-
Yeah you are right, the US had no influence in Sweden either with the PirateBay.
My bad. I was talking about Spamhaus. Not sure if Tucows has offices in Illinois, their headquarters is in Canada.
