    In America, yes.
    "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." - from the Declaration of Independence.
    In this case, privacy is a form of Liberty. It could also be considered under the Pursuit of Happiness (notice the capital letters? must have been important for them to emphasize)

    It then goes on to say - "Prudence indeed, will dictate, that Governments long established, should not be changed for light and transient Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security." - sound pretty relevant even today, huh? Especially if you substitute "guise of fighting Terrorism" with "Object"...

    I'm no audiophile, just someone who prefers analog sound over digital. I don't know or care what your supposed abx test is, but I have a real simple test of my own. Play the same music from vinyl and from CD and to me, it sounds better off vinyl. Albums seem to have a "depth" that I have never heard duplicated on CDs. Might only be my personal perception, but does anything elese really matter when you are listening to music???

    When you think of how many TVs there are out there, yeah 10% of that is a big number. Consider that every home in the USA has an average of 2.24 televisions - so about one in five households have HDTV already...

    I'd be willing to bet the process of having 3 standards on one disc would cost the same if not more than 2 separate discs. But I am only guessing, I have no actual knowledge of what the process entails or costs...

    Yeah, the Needle Doctor rocks. I live in Minneapolis and go there all the time. I was amazed they had my Bang & Olufsen stylus in stock when I needed a new one years back. I thought for sure I would have to order it and wait forever for it to come in!

    I don't mind the pops and crackles to get to listen to that warm sound you can't get from sterile sounding CDs. If you have a decent turntable/needle and know how to clean albums, you won't hear many cracks and pops anyways. I like flipping the record over, as you listen to whole albums once again rather than hitting the skip button and only listening to a few songs off the CD. I can certainly hear the difference, but if you can't - more power to you, enjoy the CDs. I could break every one of my CDs and feel nothing, but I get really bummed when something happens to my vinyl. Most of the people I know that bag on vinyl do it out of jealousy - it took me 25 years, many fun hours of searching for rare finds, and lots of money to build up my 400+ collection. Anyone can just go out and buy a CD, what fun or challenege is that? And if I had $10,000 burning a hole in my pocket, I would buy a laser-stylus turntable. - http://www.elpj.com/ - It plays vinyl without anything physically touching the album - no more loss of quality at all!

    No, it isn't my duty to go to jail for your opinion. And why is paper any more secure? A voting system, paper or electronic, is only as good as the people counting and reporting the votes. If you can't trust them, it doesn't amtter how you voted.

    Nope, that's statistics. The Pinto was more prone to having it's gas tank catch fire and explode. All that means is more likely than the average for other cars. Say the rate in other cars that this happens is 1 out of every 100,000 accidents. If the Pinto's rate is 2 out of every 100,000 then that is twice as likely to happen. Sounds bad, but the real world difference between 1 or 2 out of 100,000 is negligible (unless you are the 1 or 2).

    "You can't put a sign on the door that says "No Shirt, No Shoes, Kids, No Service" and expect that no one is going to say anything or that every parent group in the area is going to crush you with protestors and paperwork."

    The restaurant owners would never know there were protesters due to the overwhelming crowd of people constantly trying to get in and eat there.

    And hey, if the government can tell private business owners other legal activities they can't do in their own businesses (like smoking), then business owners can tell kids to buzz off. I'd personally eat at a place like that all the time. One of the reasons I chose not to have kids is so I wouldn't have to hear and see that crap. What about my rights to a scream-free environment??

    "Rep. John Ainsworth (R-Shawano) wants to change a Wisconsin law that allows children to consume alcoholic drinks at bars as long as their parents are present, the Associated Press reported Aug. 20.

    Ainsworth's bill would only allow individuals age 18 and older to drink in bars if accompanied by a parent or guardian."

    So only 18 year olds and up can drink with dad, way to tighten the reigns Wisconsin.
