Yes in my city not only do you get the walking and driving maps, but also public transportation with stop times listed, and also a biking map that shows where the bike trails are. This feature alone is one of the main reasons I use Google Maps over other map applications.
Obviously as there are zero murders in any country that has the death penalty. Of course a law will stop anyone from doing anything illegal. Oh wait...
Also, a claim without a citation is useless. Watch this -
The death penalty actually increases the murder rates, plenty of studies have proven it.
See, my uncited point is just as valid as yours. If there are plenty of studies that prove your point, would you mind sharing even one of the plenty with us?
Yes government regulations are always terrible. We should relax them, like how they did with the banking industry a few years back. I mean, look how well all of that turned out...(for the banks)
How hard would you have laughed at someone if 12 years ago they would have told you Apple would be a bigger corporation than Microsoft, and a leader in the mobile phone and music markets today?
Now there is a prediction never made on Slashdot before. Why don't you go all the way out on the limb and declare next year to be "The Year Of Linux on Desktops"?
Their stealth planes are "made in China" so you know they cut corners, used dangerous fillers in the materials, tried to save on production costs, etc. so they will only last a few years. Then back to Walmart to buy another one.
Heh, I was wondering if anybody was going to bring up the Chris Mars connection to tenterhooks. It was the first thing that sprang to my mind, but I am a huge Replacements fan.
Every chef I have ever known, including myself, never follows recipes - they just mess you up. I go by taste and experience. If you can't taste it and know what it needs, you aren't a chef. If this is the case, follow the recipe...
Where I work everyone wanted to use fingerprint scanners as the sole method of authentication. I argued for two factor if using fingerprints - either a password or smart card. They argued up and down how fingerprints were unique, and then I logged into 2 out of the 6 laptops in the meeting room using my unregistered fingerprints. The idea was quickly abandoned thereafter. I have since tried this on a number of the Dell laptops with fingerprint scanners here and have a roughly 15-20% chance one of my fingers will log me into an account. Fingerprint scanning is like putting a 3 inch fence around something you want to protect. Yeah there is something there, but it doesn't take much to defeat it.
but I'm not seeing in my peer group what may have existed in the 60s with my parent's peer group
Thank God. What we don't really need are a bunch of idealists who have momentum but do nothing but turn into the thing they railed so hard against. Gotta love the hippies turned yuppies. They traded in their acid and tie dyes for cocaine and tailored suits. And now our generations will be the first to make less than our parents. Thanks idealist hippies! Don't confuse "love ins" with real activism. The baby boomers had a chance to change things and they pissed it away.
People that have been kidnapped have texted from the trunks of cars alerting others to what is going on. Imagine if those texts were blocked because you were in a moving vehicle and you were not typing normally?
What do consumers get out of regulation? It isn't safety. It isn't privacy.
As someone who has had to deal with HIPAA and FISMA regulations, I can attest firsthand that these regulations do give patients privacy with regards to your medical information.
And if you think the FDA isn't keeping medicine safe, I suggest you start buying it from alternate sources. Like strange men selling medicine out of their trunk in the Walmart parking lot. That is the "free market" at work!
Considering minimum wage in Australia is near $18 an hour, and most workers earn a higher average than similar US or European workers, is it a big shock that things are more expensive in Australia? I mean a six pack of beer or a pack of cigarettes is like $16. When you make 2-3 times more than workers in other countries, I would expect prices on items to be about 2-3 higher as well. Also, Australia is an island. Go to Hawaii sometime and compare prices of things to mainland US. Things are more expensive because most things are imported.

If there were such a company they would lobby the politicians to make sure laws like this do not get passed.
"It's a trap!"
Perfect attack vector for a real infection - as part of the AV suite. Talk about stealthy.

Netcraft just confirmed it.
Bye Bye, Microsoft.

No I don't, but being as I am not in the Chinese military I think the odds were pretty low to begin with.

No, but three lefts do.

So the moral of the story is - if you are going to kill someone in the Netherlands, kill someone at least 10 km away from you.
I would say even if your non industrial hardened switches are throwing sparks, it is time to get some new gear.

UID 4190? He must have joined Slashdot when it was still a magazine.
He probably knew Mozart personally with a UID that low.

Does anybody else remember when kangaroo courts were something we associated with the commies?
I bet Pussy Riot does.
Invisibility cloak? I'll believe it when I see it...

You are then beaten after being put to death.
America can hardly be considered an "island" seeing all of the outside borders are not ocean, and you can walk/drive/train to another country from it.
