Sure, and settle for crappy DSL that is slightly less expensive, or city Wireless that is absolute crap, even when it is working. Love my choices. If I want any speed over 1MB, and service that works more than 80% of the time, Comcast is my only real option. So if by wanting reliable fast internet I am a sucker, so be it. See the problem here?
The world I actually live in has issues that are mostly shades of gray, not the black and white one you live in. If only it was as easy as "stop paying them".

I thought Time Warner was bad until they were bought up by Comcast in my area. Comcast reduced the amount of channels I get, raised the price of cable by about 30%, and raised the cost of internet services by about 40%. I would kill to have Time Warner again.

No, I don't take sides as I think both sides are in the wrong, and to continue the killing is ridiculous. But for you to ignore the implications of the Israel/Arab conflict by saying "this is about a laptop" means you are either choosing to be disingenuous yourself, or you are woefully ignorant of the situation over there. I wasn't assuming she was Palestinian, but I would bet the farm the Israeli guards did - or at least that she was anti-Israel which was basically what I meant. And sorry, but this is not off topic. If she wouldn't have had anti-jewish stickers on her laptop, I am guessing this would not have happened, so it is very on topic. So clearly you are not clear about what I meant, so please do not try to speak for me, or explain to me what I meant.

It is a story about Israeli guards acting against what they perceived may be a Palestinian threat. How could that post be any more on topic? Do you know anything about the middle east at all? If you really think this entire story "is about a laptop", you are the biggest twit in the universe.

  12. Carrier free? on Ads To Offset Cost of Unlocked Google Phone? · · Score: 1

What I am most interested about regarding this phone was the article I read that said you could use the phone carrier-free over existing WiFi networks. Combined with a Google Voice phone #, you could use this phone without having a carrier at all. Of course you would need WiFi to use it this way, so you may not always have coverage, but for city dwellers, this is an interesting option. Add to the fact that you could primarily use the phone this way, and carry a pre-paid SIM with you for the times you need to use the phone but there is no WiFi available, and you could put together a very low cost phone solution. Even if the phone was several hundred dollars more initially to buy without a contract, you could recover any extra money spent very quickly by not having a monthly fee.
