    It exists because it can carry 1000 electronic books in less space than a single paper book. That is useful for people who do a lot of travel and don't want to fill an extra bag with books to read. There are a lot of legitimate uses for a device like the Kindle. If you look beyond your own face, it isn't hard to see some of them.

    Also not utilized by Apple. Apple has not released an update that I cn recall that didn't require stopping the program being updated (if not an full machine restart).

    If he wants to be able to modify Gmail code (even client side), he should write and host Stallmanmail and let everyone modify the javascript needed client side.

    If he wants to be able to modify Google Docs code (even client side), he should write and host StallmanDocs and let everyone do so.

    After 4 years, we'll see which service has greater uptime and innovation. I know where my money is going, and it isn't to the cracked-out hippy.

    Wait...you mean to tell me that 60 problem reports from folks like "hugmonstercok220@yahoo.com" in a year doesn't mean there's a problem waiting to sweep over everyone with a 360? But I read all those comments up there that said my 360 was going to die in new and creative ways and I should have built a bsd box instead to play console games...

    Anyway, my question is this: which Linux distro should I run on it? Plain Ubuntu just doesn't have driver support. I tried Ubuntu-eee, which, to put it bluntly, does not work for me at all (slow, terrible battery life, even worse interface). I've heard that Jaunty Jackalope is going to have better netbook support, but that's all the way in April! Is there a distro out now that will free me from XP's terribleness without being terrible itself?

    Poorly written third party software is Microsoft's problem? Gee, I guess I must be new here. I mean, I run as a limited user and rarely have problems with software "requiring" admin rights. Then again, I'm not trying to use the same crappy software I used 10 years ago either.

    Assuming the patented invention was a device, one would assume that purchasing it would grant you authority to use it. If it was an idea, well...that's a whole nother can of worms that isn't popular around here.

    If it can install a launch agent/daemon, it runs as system with full access to anything. And all it takes to install a launch agent/daemon is your admin password.
