WHat innovation is this discouraging? Samsung copied a feature someone else created and patented 8 years ago. How is doing that innovation. Do you own a dictionary? Now they get to be real innovative and come up with their own way of doing it.
I did a poll of my 3 year old son, my wife, and my 85 year old grandmother, none of them thought this was news. How does this crap get on the front page. This site is turning into a vanity press for people who can game the firehose.
Certainty of guilt is not the same thing. Reasonable doubt is a fine standard. The burden of proof being on the states helps as well. Prosecutor that are slave to justice and not conviction is the ultimate gatekeeper.
If they do find any wrongful convictions, misguided police and prosecutors will be at the heart of each one. Will they always be malicious? Absolutely not, but they will still be negligent.
I would prefer all of the guilty people go free over convicting one innocent. The state denying life or liberty is the most heinous crime of all. This goes well beyond silly political ideologies. It is a fundamental principle of freedom.
Anarchy is preferable to tyranny. It is not as complicated as you make it out to be.
It was a hatchet job.maybe it just appears that way to those of us who read the summary here first. We were told to expect investigative journalism. We read a heavily biased opinion piece. Very little facts. I read the whole thing. There is no substance. I am not sure if you are being deliberately obtuse or have a similar axe to grind.
Where is the investigation? Where is the journalism? The author read some news articles and a couple of opinion pieces on-line and wrote an extremely slanted summary. Who did she talk to? What was uncovered?
The EdWeek readers want Bill to take a hit for supporting teacher testing. Why don't they stick to a topic that fits into their magazines core competency.
The edweek series is merely a response to Gates advocating teacher testing in public schools, They should at least mention it in their articles. The summary here sure should have figured it out. While I understand the author's feelings don't necessarily invalidate her argument, not disclosing them adds to the picture. The way the piece takes the worst possible spin on every thing the foundation has done is another clue.
Note to slashdot: This is not investigative journalism....
You do realize Apple is a fairly significant force in retail...it is by far the most efficient retail operation in the world. They can afford some extra training.
Turn the dock off? Make it auto-hide? Install a mod?
I would like windows on every screen. I however don't want focus to follow the mouse. The way it is I can type in the window with focus and scroll in another.
That has been my experience too. I have never been asked for my papers in China, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, India, UK, France, Germany, Jamaica, or Nevis.
How do you look up a citizen? There is no citizens data bank. What about minors? This is the most wrong-headed law ever created. Anyone who claims to be a conservative and supports this law needs medication. In fact, anyone who supports this law needs medication.
If this really is constitutional, we need an amendment. The federal government needs to take over a strip of land to offer the rest of the country clear passage into the Grand Canyon.
So like 10 a week? He checked out 10 people buying computers a week for a year (assuming the 750k was not over some longer time period). How much selling did he do? I am sure a lot of those "sales" we're him acting as a cashier. 30% GM - operating expenses (those stores aren't cheap), how much does he think he should make for pushing the last button?

Web OS did not exist before this patent so..umm..yeah.
Huh?
Or they are simply blocking products from the market that used their patented technology. Nah, must be the other thing you made up.
Yeah because Samsung would never sure anyone, right?

Misguided prosecutors maybe. The rate of wrongful convictions has nothing to do with that. You have some messed up "lawyer" friends.

I don't recall Aple offering a license.
Of course they are. They are not related to this patent however.
They can recut the 3GS screen to roughly 7.85" and com out at 1024x768.

Still sticking to the black-rounded-corner argument? I guess you don't get out much.
It is cute how naive you are. They are not going to share it with their Android partners,
This is one of the reasons Apple has diversified assembly outside of China. They have a long way to go before it is balanced.
Start with the man in the mirror.

Sorry I meant menus on every screen not windows.
