The fact that you think people who have a different opinion about a product must be ignorant sheep tells us a lot about you and very little about the product.
It is really funny, I handed it to my Son who was 10 at the time and never used one before and he was able to go from locked to dialing in under 5 seconds with no help from me.
People who think making calls on the iphone is difficult should not own a phone.
Of course now all you do is hold down the mic button for a couple seconds and say call home.
I believe you are actually identifying more people who "THINK" they understand the technology alternatives, many of the people who look at the whole picture and are able to look past "features" and into engineering and design often choose Apple products.
Everyone who owns an iPhone is not quite as ignorant of the alternatives as you seem to believe.
If you want Apple (or anyone else really ) to care about Linux support in a consumer electronic device, you should give them a compelling reason to do.
You are also misusing the term lock -in.. You are free to put any supported content format on the iPod/iPhone/iPad and all support MP3s created anywhere by anyone.
They chose to make their device managed by their software, it is not lock in..What choice are you being prevented from making? What content that the device supports are you unable to put on it because apple decided to use their own software to manage their device because for 90% of their customers it provides a better experience?
You will be doing your clients a disservice by keeping them locked into a flash format site and they will eventually find a more forward thinking developer.
I am not even sure what principal you think you are standing up for other than you don't like Apple so you want to make sure your site does not render properly on what is currently the most used mobile browser on the Internet.
Or maybe because Apple is right. Adobe Flash is buggy and offers bad/inconsistent performance. While it is passable on Windows machines, it is prone to crashing on nearly every other platform. Flash dieing is a good thing.
If you do a little research before posting instead of quoting something you remember someone else saying on Slashdot, you will look smarter. Apple tried to keep DRM off of ITMS before it even opened.
I have a lot of friends who absolutely love their netbooks, many have netbooks, laptops and desktop pcs. I own one 2 laptops atm but never saw the point of a netbook, it is too big to be realistically more portable than my Macbook pro. This is where the iPad fits and where others failed to do their homework. It has all the features that most people actually use on their netbooks.
His own logic could easily be used to explain why the ipad will succeed as something diverging from a PC with a more specific subset of features. If the ipad was actually a giant phone, he might have a point, but it is actually a specialized computer.
He got lost in the imagery and failed to use his own logic.
How big and heavy are those? Really am curious..Since they have not announced any battery numbers for the new slate nor weight, but it does look pretty hefty already.
Apple has by far the most realistic laptop battery estimates and their mobile ones are very accurate . The Ant-Appleism never ceases, even in areas they are particularly good at.
Depends on your definitions of streaming and HD:) Streaming of 1080P live content in real time remains a challenge. Streaming pre-encoded 720p material is fairly common today and easy to do.. HD does not refer to one particular type of content and streaming does not refer to one particular type of delivery. The variations are important.
What is it you feel consumers want that they actually can't get? I write new applications all the time that I give to friends as well, none of them go through the app store and none of the phones are Jail broken.
If I want to use an Android phone I have to get squeezed into a JVM.

Because the makers of the newton is by far the largest mobile device maker of all time and Palm is teetering on the brink of collapse?
Your comment was so 15 years ago.

If you were as tech savy as you say,you might have pointed out the plethora of dock connected and bluetooth keyboards that exist.

How much does a new battery for your netbook cost?(that probbally does not last as long per charge or life expectancy)

Except of course for the mounds of easy to find evidence to the contrary...Google a bit before you post in the future :)
Steve Jobs opposed DRM before you probably even knew what it was.
And pretty much only here...
It does not cost more than twice as much as an unlocked iPhone, maybe you meant iPod touch.
Best post on this article. You should get a prize.
Must have had something, the iPhone is the #1 selling smart phone in Japan atm... (Look it up on your own)

Obviously you missed the technological leap created in the summary :)

I am not sure he is actually in the middle east....
Were you buying licensed DRM free music in the United States before Steve Jobs asked the record companies to allow it?
That would be news to the record companies.
