Like the IBM Deskstar. I had 4 fail, they kept replacing it with the same drive/firmware. Turns out it was a firmware bug corrupting the drive. Finally on the 5'th fail they gave me a larger different drive. I also got a letter from some law firm asking me to join a class action suit against IBM for knowingly distributing/replacing bad drives with bad drives.
If i had 1000 mod points. I would give em to you. You hit the nail on the head. Of course even here on slashdot, we will get modded down because "you can't attack religion" the number one fantasy of them all. Teaching your kid religion is worse that letting them play video games all day. Teaching religion and god is tantamount to child abuse. Yet as you said "somehow seen as more acceptable." Time to stop walking on egg shells when some one says something bad about religion. Unlike religious people, at least we can all agree characters in video games are not real..
This is why the refuse to call in outside experts from where ever they need to. People have been calling for an core group of international experts in varying fields of expertise to come up with a solid game plan and manage the efforts at the site. Of course the Japanese have always resisted outside help, but this time it's more than they can chew.
On my drive to work, the local radio stations morning radio show can be so funny I can't stop laughing and my eyes tear up. If I crash can I sue for excess humor?
I seen something similar to this back during the 2001 Leonids. A large fireball crossed the sky then broke up into 2 smaller chunks and they continued on with their own own streaks. It was the most incredible meteor I ever seen. That whole shower was the best.

Actually that's a good point. Usage patterns effect the long term life of a battery. I find notebooks which are primarily used as desktops, - plugged in most of the time - have fewer over all cycles than a moderately used battery. Heavy usage also lowers that cycle count as well. So moderate usage seem to be best for longer life, from my experience at least. And the worst thing you can do is leave the thing sit around in an uncharged state of long periods. Batteries don't seem to like that.
And what incentive would they have to do this? Out of the kindness of their hearts? Thees are MegaCorps we are talking about right?
"whose business models are at stake." Which it will be if they don't comply.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
Quite frankly, I don't think is bothers Google or other corps, because it's clear there is no incentive to "fight" and every incentive to go along. As long as profits roll in they can comfortably look the other way. It's just a minor nuisance to them. For medium to small companies, they are scared into submission and they too go along.
It's a loose loose situation for all of us
scientist have at least actually recorded "noisy" meteors now.
Really? I'll have to research that, I always wondered how that could possibly happen.
I did see a few this morning, Im going to try again monday morning with my DSLR and take some long exposures.
Let's make a law so criminals - who follow the law to the letter - won't even think of owning a plastic gun. Makes sense to me.

We have separation of church and state.
There should also be a separation of corporations and state.
Is it just my observation, or are there way too many stupid people in the world?
WAAAAAAAY to many
Stop gerrymandering
Limit campaign funding
Curtail Lobbying
Impose term limits
Realize corporations "are not people too.."
Improve education
Well at least the movie Apollo 13 used the vomit comet for some of their zero-g needs.
Buy gold and silver now. Before it's too late..
Such as?
And if you say something like vote out the "bad guys" and vote in the "good guys" I'll smack you..
I make my own pasta - even cheaper.

Let the flames start in 3...2..1..
Just wait till replicators like in Star Trek are perfected..
You still need conventional rocket to get it up there. At about $10,000 per pound to lift something out of earths gravity well, every ounce counts.

Repeat after me: "fundamental freedoms apply online just as they do offline"
Don't worry, I am sure the DRM stuff is working fine. That's what really matters.
On my drive to work, the local radio stations morning radio show can be so funny I can't stop laughing and my eyes tear up. If I crash can I sue for excess humor?
who didn't create a goddamn thing.
They created profit. That's all that matters
It's one big trojan.
