I love that someone modded you up. So, if I give you a box of matches and you set fire to your house on purpose, you'd blame me? Kind of like people who pour hot coffee on themselves and file a lawsuit for a million bucks, right?

acer is not exactly off the hook here either.

That's an interesting way to put it. But I guess that's the only way to rationalize it if you were desperate enough to pin this on Microsoft for some reason.

So what you're saying is that it's really OK to publish and spread FUD about something because you dislike the idea that originated the FUD to begin with. So it's OK to lie about something you don't like because, well, you don't like it to begin with.

    That's really great.

Interestingly enough, this does not involve "M$", and IBM is the world's largest patent holder. Microsoft has never used a patent offensively in the legal arena, on the contrary, patents have liberally been used against them to the tune of billions of dollars of losses. Perens' mention of the company founded by an ex-Microsoft executive serves only to introduce Microsoft into a discussion in which they have no stake whatsoever, but then it was also Perens who had that pitiful attempt to tie Jack Abramoff back to Bill Gates, which obviously crashed and burned.

Looking for the "M$" angle here is nothing but the usual FUD.

According to the article you linked to, was caused by a divide by zero exception on a database. It escapes me as to what that has anything to do with the OS, but whatever. Interestingly enough, this story was widely reported with no technical backing or reliable detail as to why the particular system had failed. See this.

If using NT was such a disaster for the US Navy, surely you can point us to evidence that this was not a one-time occurence. So let's have it. Let's see some links and research that the US Navy is "shut down" by "closed source junk". There have been at least three major military operations that involved the Navy since 1998, so surely you can find more up to date "proof" of your claims.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you stop lowering the Free Software community to the level of Microsoft, spewing baseless and ridiculous FUD ever time you get a chance. This "evangelizing" of yours that compares the Gestapo and the Chinese secret police with Microsoft helps no one.
