  1. Serious question: Why are there no competitors to Facebook? Even if they charged a few bucks a month, you would think that there would have at least been some entrepreneurs who would have made a go at competing in that marketplace. Why hasn't Google taken the social thing more seriously and tried to make Google Plus more of a thing. You got the sense that their heart was never really in it.

Some of you guys are developers, so what's the story? Is there some technical hurdle that prevents anyone from going up against the Zuck? You'd think this would be a perfect time to take a run at him.

There is no constitutional right to vote. We are told that constantly by Republicans.

the declaration isn't written as a binding law, rather it's written more as the founding philosophy of the US itself

That's what I said. It's the "origin myth". It was false when it was written and it's false today.

No, it didn't. At all. Sure, there was language permissive of it in the constitution

What do you think "codified" means?

The only thing the constitution gave you was the right to vote for your state government.

Where is the "right to vote for your state government" enumerated in the constitution?

I'm liking the new completely unhinged, pants-shitting crazy Donald Trump. It's like watching John Belushi's last films. You knew he wasn't going to last much longer, and nothing could be done to save him from himself, but it was going to be an entertaining ride down to the end.

For example, yesterday Trump tweeted out this:

"Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"

"Get ready Russia" is not something you want to hear Trump saying in the context of "nice and new and "smart"" missiles".

So, today, of course, he said:

"Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all! In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?”"

Wait, what? Dude, you literally said, "the missiles are coming". WTF? And a few hours before that,

    "Big show tonight on @seanhannity! 9:00 P.M. on @FoxNews"

So now the President of the United States is cutting promos for Hannity.

    This is just the best.

The Constitution exists to define the limits of government. It does not enumerate your rights.

Yes, this is what the brochure says, but if it was really true, why is it acceptable for the government to restrict the rights of non-citizens?

If rights truly are endowed by the Creator, and if "all men" are equal in the eyes of that Creator, then don't all men qualify equally?

At some point, the origin myth of the United States of America falls apart and you realize the language of the Declaration was hype and the belief in the Constitution as some magical document is misplaced. Accept that it was just a tool to codify the aristocracy and slavery, and the flowery language of "rights" was just to dazzle the yahoos. And the rights you believe are guaranteed are only guaranteed as long as it's convenient for people with money and power.

and wages continued to fall until 2013 and didn't start rising until 2014.

Wow, you really don't remember that time at all, do you? Wage growth started rising in 2010 and continued going up throughout the rest of Obama's term. In fact, wage growth was not negative at any point in Obama's term in office. From 2010, wage growth continued to accelerate and didn't start a downward trajectory until the month Trump was elected and has continued to fall. Wage growth now is lower than it was in at any time in 2016, and to find wage growth as low as it is today, you have to go back to December of 2014.
