    Yes it does, its unfortunate that in lots of countries, not just the US that its the socio-economically disadvantaged people that are driven to extreme actions to try and survive, and are jailed when resorting to something that a more powerfull person would not.

    It comes back to nature v's nurture, either people are born evil, or they learn to be evil from society that they interact with.

    If its the later then society should willing accept that society is in a small part responsible for the crime due to not providing an acceptable environmont from which to draw acceptable values from.

    Criminals are victims of society

    "The U.S. has more people in jail than an other country." I heard it as the US houses 25% of the *worlds* prison population. A US citisen is more likely to be improsoned than a citisen in any other country, so are you lot born evil, or do you have unjust laws by international standards. Its rather ironical considering the values the US tries to promote. Land of the free... ha, bloody haha

    But no drivers in the kernel, because nvidia chooses to agree to non disclosure agreements with their partners. Why get a geoforce card and then have to deal with the extra hassle of binary only drivers for the lifetime of the card. Buy hardware from a company that supports free software as all *hardware* manufacturers should and the hardware will probably have a longer usefull life. (long term support)

    You can change your resolution in X by doing just what you say, however you have to have your Config file setup so it knows about the other resolutions.

    The post i was responding to stated that if MS died free source development would slow becasue there isnt any competition.

    My point is that MS is dominant in the desktop so if the same rules apply there developemtn should be slow as they dont ahve any competition.

    If MS died, then why couldnt free software compete with old versions of itself.

    Stone age people didnt have 10 million people living in one village, or the ability to instantly communicate with one of hundreds of millions of people at will.

    Stonage people had great privacy, nobody outside the small tribe would know much at all about them.

    As comminications and transport technologies become greater the world effectively becomes smaller, bringing more people into our influence.
    Its only natural that people will want to protect there own private space from "outsiders".

    Friends come and go, enemies are forever. Most people that use MS's product arent happy with it, that isnt a good situation for any buisness to be in. MS makes more and more enemies all the time, eventually they will get draged under, its inevitable. Ever hear of someone choosing to switch to windows ?

    You are wrong !

    It is assumed that people havent given permission unless stated, so it is illegal to forward any email unless they state its ok.

    Its not enough that the Liberals drive the porn industry from australias shores, they are intend on driving anyone who uses content out.

    They say they cunsulted for 2 years to come up with these laws, i could have come up with better ones in 1/2 second.

    Im going to have to become a political activist i think.

    Do you honestly think the people who voted for this law are fully aware of its consequences ?

    In an effort to educate ignorant authoritarians (lawmakers) we should try and get them to undersand that all the internet is an efficient method of communicating.

    All us geeks and nerds should band together and collectively abolish the word "Internet" from out vocabulary and instead replace it with the words "efficient communication" (or something like that).

    e.g. this topic would become
    Australian IT are reporting that the South Australian Government are about to pass a bill which mandates censorship of efficient communicatons methods.

    SCSI is designed for parallel data, fiber isnt parallel.

    IP is at least serial, but its really too high a level for these things isnt it....

    I mean do we have to assign hdd an IP address now, lots of unneeded headers for IP on hdd's....

    I really dont see the need for this hdd interface type, why not keep network machines instead of individual devices ?

    I wouldnt have one on my machine.

    Ive seen in the kernel options linux has had ham radio support for yonks, this is really the same is wireless as far as i can see, just a different protocol.
    Im sure people used a web browser with it.

    A.I think your arguing semmantics.
    B.The only way you can "lockup" a magnetic field is with superconductors.

    You can "encourage" a magnetic field to stay within certain boundaries using certain materials, but for all practicle purposes you cannot totally contain a magnetic field.
    C. Fair enough, did you measure electric field strength as well ?

    There must be a pretty massive magnetic field for these to work, if there is a magnetic field, theres also and electric field.

    I wonder what the electromagnetic radiation level from this hover train would be compared to say a mobile phone.

    I guess a least its not concentrated at your brain. I would want some information before i would spend a lot of my time on one (driver, catering staff etc).

    Sounds like pipe dream, why stop at nano machine robots, why not make a big robot that builds other robots... who hasnt thought of that before.
