Thank God for the 2nd Amendment. Now I can fully appreciete my Constitutional right to protect myself from the Government when they try to arrest me and my fellow citizens for voicing our opinions.
Say what you want about guns, but who is going to keep Big Brother away from you when politicians and the Government run amok?
Shouldn't we be trying to utilize fuels that have a higher energy density than hydrogen? It's pretty cool that they got it to work with methane, so what about other, more energy-dense fuels like butane or even possibly kerosene or diesel? It would be alot cheaper to use commonly available fuels, instead of goind through the trouble of fractioning, distilling, cooling, and transporting liquid hydrogen, especially in the volumes that rockets require.
If I recall correctly, didn't Robert Goddard use liquid oxygen in gasoline in his early rockets?
Keep in mind, I am not a rocket scientist. I do build rockets, but they fail after launch more often than return.
Also, if you are going to blame your current problems on someone else, try doing a better job. Did you ever think that you still have cancer for other reasons? Sure, drug companies are evil giant Empires that feed and thrive on the Dark Side of the Force, but they aren't the reason that you still have cancer.
If you ask ANY respected oncologist (no, not the 'alternative', 'holistic', 'spiritual' new-wave voodoo witch doctors that call themselves doctors), or even a lowly medical intern, they'll probably laugh at you and explain that you still have cancer because it is either spreading, malignant, or current therapies are just not affecting it. But then again, judging from your arguments, anyone who tells you that your obviously and fatally flawed argument is wrong is just another apprentice of the Dark Side of the Force and probably the manifestation of the Anti-Christ Himself.
Oh, if drug companies were out to get us, hen they havent been getting their money's worth with me, seeing as I haven't had anything worse than a hangover in the last 17 years. Oh wait! I'll bet that hangover is just an evil attck that Tylenol, Excedrin, and Advil are behind! I'll bet my local saloon is just a front company for the Big Three as a means for them to enact their evil agenda by distributing headache-inducing alcohol! Then, when we are suffering horribly from hangovers, we will be more likely to buy their produts!
IT'S A CONSPIRACY I SAY! DOWN WITH THE TRUE EVIL EMPIRE!
btw..... It wouldn't happen to be brain cancer, would it?
Maybe you should be seeing a psychologist in addition to your oncologist.....
Excellent point regarding the nanotech brouhaha. Nano means just that: Nano. Just because the battery has nano-sized components doesn't mean that the battery is a nanobattery. If the *entire* battery is only a few nanometers in dimensional specifications (yes, only a few nanometers, since everything can be measured in terms of nanometers) then there would be true technical grounds to call it a nanobattery. BUT, since there are nano-sized components that comprise a definitely NOT nano-sized device, it is technically NOT a nanobattery, but a bettery that uses nano-sized components.
Technology and it's terminology has been thoroughly bastardized by advertising and marketing departments to the point where you have to actually have a brain to keep from being decieved by it. Every morning I check the back page of the newspaper for the specials at my local Fry's Electronics store. Every issue has the traditional full-page advertisement so there are alot of products offered for sale. There are AT LEAST 4 or 5 that claim to have this 'technology' or that 'technology'. There are so many products that marketers claim has some sort of 'technology', that you wonder what technology actually was, is, and has now become.
Also, I'm pretty sure they are now using 45nm lithography processes. AMD and Intel are both currently working on 32nm processes at the moment. I wonder of we should now be calling them Nanochips instead of Microchips...............Mmmmm..........chips..........
Not everybody knows that drinking too much water will cause you to throw up, if you do decide to drink too much water, you will throw up regardless of if you knew it or not.
Also, just because someone is lacking a bit of common sense doesn't indemnify or absolve themselves from bearing the responsibility of the results of their own actions.
If you drink too much water, you eventually will throw up. Similarly, if you drink too much beer, you will throw up as well. However, with alcoholic beverages, the loss of coordination speeds up the vomiting process due to the resulting nausea.
I' not telling you that drinking water is not safe, but I am telling you that drinking too much water is not safe. Regardless of who tells you to drink water, drinking too much will cause you to throw up, experience severe stomach pains, bladder pressure/need to urinate, bladder pain, and other very noticiable symptoms.
Any idiot with even the smallest shred of common sense knows that this is potentially harmful, regardless of who tells them otherwise. It's like the people who smoked for years because doctors and tobacco companies told them it was healthy and safe. Anybody with common sense would have been able to put 2 and 2 together and realize that there is NO WAY that smoking can be even remotely safe.
Question: What kills people who die as a result of fires, but aren't burned? Smoke inhalation! Why is it hard to breath when walking through smoke? Because inhaling smoke is hazardous! Yet, millions of Americans managed to figure it out without lighting up OR sticking their head down the chimney.
Yeah, we have the gas chamber here in California, but nobody uses it because there are numerous lawsuits over it's "cruelty" to the condemned.
Apperently, It's cruel to gas people who kidnap, rape, and murder people.
Should cruelty be a concern when the condemned serial killer kidnaps, rapes, and murders his victims? I don't think so, but that is my opinion. If execution should be outlawed, so should the relatively comfy living conditions that inmates currently recieve.
If convicted murderers and rapists were spared the death penalty, and commuted to life in prison, then they should not be afforeded the amenities that they are currently reciceving. Seeing as how the worst of society live in a place that has a higher standard of living conditions than honest, hardworking 'Average Joes' who live in West or East Oakland, Compton or Watts, then something is truly wrong with the prison system.
No what's fucking retarded is not setting up the contest, but being the idiot that actualy competes in such an contest and puts your life up on the line for a fraternity membership or video game platform.
I have plety of poisons for my garden in my tool shed. Yes, I have them. But I am not responsible for the adult who drinks them just because they want to win something arbitrary.
By the way, Wikipedia is about as far from a legal reference as you can get. The current manslaughter statutes are just another way for people, and the families of people, who should have been killed off by evolution along time ago to blame others for that individuals stupid choice.
I have a contest for people: If you can drink 30 gallons of water in 30 minutes while doing calisthenics, I'll buy you any car of your choice. Now who's the idiot in this scenario: Me for setting up the contest, or the idiot who trys to do it?
Like I said before, the current manslaughter statutes are a way for truly retarded people to blame others for their bad choices. And no family wants to admit and understand that the individual made the conscience choice, of their own free will, to participate in such a stupid stunt. No family wants to call, or admit, a deceased loved one made a bad choice and ultimately paid for it. People who make such horrible choices DESERVE to suffer the consequences, and are just as much idiots as people who smoke and now are stunned to learn they have cancer. If you do something that is stupid, and die in the process, it's YOUR fault.
"You're fucking retarded enough to get sent up for it. Please - make a contest that kills some people - and get anal raped in jail. It's FUN!" -----Is this supposed to be a zinger, or something intelligent?
Unfortunately for the rest of humanity, the woman was able to pass her genes on by having children before the contest. Hopefully, you haven't been able to.
That's it..... blame other people because a stupid person (or people) died in a contest where they were participating 100% VOLUNTARILY, AT THEIR OWN HANDS. The dimwit in California wanted to get into a club and the other radio show contestant wanted a Wii. This is Darwin at work. Stupid people who make stupid choices and die because of them are their own fault, no other peoples.
See my other post about the California student. I don't feel like re-hashing the whole thing again.
Seeing as how this "clock" doesn't move according to any kind of standardized unit or reason, the clock is meaningless. Just because the clock may show that we are close to midnight (nuclear war) means nothing. The clock moves forward or backward in relation to the descisions of a panel of people. The times shown on the clock are representational of the personal feeling of a small panel of people, and are entirely NOT truly, or even remotely, reflecive of the actual situation, but reflective of a percieved situation as interpreted and told by a couple of people.
Kind of how like religion is entirely dependant on the interpretations of certain individuals, and varies on who you talk to, and, like the clock, does not give an accurate reflection of reality as it actually is. Also, what use is a clock, even as an interpretational device, if it's movement is entirely subjective, and does not have a set standard of criterion that determine it's fowrad or backward movement except for the feelings of certain individuals. The indicative value of the clock is the same as the DHS color coded Terror Threat Level.
NASA used to occupy the technological equivalent of the "top seat of the totem pole", way up in space. But recently, half-assed engineers, lazy technicians, buereaucratic posturing, and elitism have turned the star in the sky into a brilliant meteor crashing toward Earth.
NASA used to be at the forefront of technological innovation and development. A demise this rapid is only explainable by the aformentioned reasons.
The solution:
Fire EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF SENIORITY, and hire people who care more about technological innovation and development and national pride rather than egocentric self-glorification. When you work for a company like NASA, one that is SUPPOSED to be essentially a publicly beneficial scientific/technological R&D entity, you should be putting science and technology, and most importantly knowledge and national achievement (including global achievement) before personal glory. Just as a police officer or firefighter puts those that they are protecting at a much higher priority than his own safety.
NASA has been corrupted and polluted by 'scientists' and technicians who are in the business for personal gain, rather than technological gain.
The point was that it didn't really matter, and it doesn't, if the conditions are favorable to you. So what if you are in prison and get everything for free, if being free mean't that you would have to work every day in order to pay for all those things that are no longer free.
I've read quite a few posts dwelling on the topic of people who aren't getting punished, enough, for the kind if crap, like this, that they do.
Does anybody remember the case of Michael P. Fay, the dimwit who spray painted a bunch of cars and stole roadsigns in Singapore and was caned for it?
I GUARENTEE that if we instututed corporal punishment to individuals who flagrantly flaunt the law or are incorrigible, they would definitely think twice about breaking the law. U.S. prisons have become nothing more than expensive, overcrowded hotels for people who treat them as a sort of revolving-door free boarding house.
They are entitled to:
-Free security from themselves (mental health issues) (we pay for the security) -Free security from others (fREE armed SECURITY, at that) (we pay for the security) -3 free, healthy, balanced meals a day (we pay for the food, the kitchens to prepare and cook it, cooks to supuervise the prisoners who cook it, and the kitchens and supplies) -Free healthcare (we pay for the doctors and supplies and hospital trips) -Free prescription drugs (we pay for them) -Free protection from the elements (we pay for the safe, durable, strudy facility, and all the maintenance) -Free room and board (No rent, mortgage, etc.) (we pay the rent) -Free water (we pay the water bill) -Free electricity (we pay the eletricity bill) -Free cable T.V. (we pay the cable bill) -Free heating / air conditioning (we pay the heating / air conditioning bill) -Guaranteed showers (we pay for the facilities) -Free high-speed Internet (we pay for the Internet access) -Free college / high school education (here in California, you have to be drowning in poverty to even come close to qualifying for State help) (we still pay for that, too) -Jobs readily provided (yes, the State gives you a job if you behave.) (we pay their wages) -Free Hospital-level sanitary living and eating conditions. (we pay for the upkeep and maintenance) -Conjugal visits (Some prisons. But still, you get to spend a few nights, alone, and in your own privacy in a small one-room "cabin" with your wife. Not just any cabin, it has a kitchen where you can cook your own meals, heating/air conditioning, etc. Essentially your own house, but on prison grounds) (we pay for the whole thing) -Free bed, mattress, blankets, pillows. (we pay for them) -Free laundry facilities (we pay for them) -Free recreational grounds (we pay for the upkeep) -On-call officers 24-hours a day in case you have a question or need something (we pay their wages) -Less-Than-Lethal weapons in case you get out of control (we pay for them. Compare a $25 stun grenade [to allow officers to restrain you at risk to their own safety] vs. a $.30 bullet) -Easy access to an attorney or legal representative on request, at no cost to you (we pay for them) -Free counseling (we pay for the counselors) -Free addiction-cessation programs (we pay for them and the supplies) -Free libraries (we pay for the books and facilities) -The ability to indulge in hobbies like ship building, model making, woodworking, etc. (we pay for the equipment, supplies, facilities, and upkeep)
The Gulags were a pretty good idea, but the mistake was that people were there for ".....speaking against the Government, suspicion, and other manifestations of Soviet paranoia". I'll bet repeat offenders were few and far between. Murderers were probably shot on the spot, and not allowed to relax with the aforementioned "luxuries of life". Yes, I call them luxuries, seeing as how we law-abiding individuals have to work all day to pay for them, and we are not guarenteed them.
Yes, I RTFA, and use this post to explain why people do this sort of thing. They lose very little compared to people who worked hard to buy what they have, er, used to have before these clowns steal it. I work hard for what I have. Yes, *I HAVE* been robbed before: I was beaten unconsious with tire iron and baseball
This would be the ultimate in secure server space. Think about it:
-Tax Exempt Status
-Free from gambling regulations
-You could form your own military, which would give you alot more breathing room in defending secure servers. (Hint: You could use artillery to defend from outside intruders)
-No firearm regulations (read: all the toys you could dream of, consequence free)
-It is nearly impossible for anyone to invade you or physically compromise secure servers.
-Data storage free from regulation
-Radio operations free from regulation.....And the top seven reasons why you should buy your own country:
7. You make your tax payment check payable to yourself.
6. You could print as much money as you want.
5. You ARE the law.
4. You ARE the Head Honcho / Big Cheese / Big Kahuna / The Man .
3. The DMCA is nothing more than fuel.
2. The RIAA can't touch you.
1. You can fish without a license......On the downside, it could be a potential SPAM haven......On the upside of the downside, you know exactly where the SPAM haven is, so you could bomb the hell out of it.
NASA better hope that personal injury lawyers don't catch wind of this. They may be on the hook for untold millions in reparations if we begin colonizing Mars in the future.
Either way, the City of Berkeley is probably working on passing a resolution condemming NASA for "waging space warfare" and acts of genocide against an innocent lifeform.
This is just another application of "It causes things I don't agree with or like. Therefore, it must be banned for the good of society." This type of rationalization is also known as "California Thought".
Simply because someone uses something to commit a crime doesn't mean that the mode of execution is bad or pointless. Similarly, just because someone uses a gun to commit a murder does not mean that gun makers or the gun itself is bad or evil. It means that the individual is. Gun manufacturers did not allow or instigate the individual into committing the murder, and the gun did not allow or instigate the individual to commit the murder (The gun was unloaded until the individual decided to load it, disengage the safety catch, chamber a live round, aimed the weapon, and pull the trigger.).
When applied to the event in the article, the teachers are simply wrong. The student broke the teacher's window and then posted a videotape of himself committing the act on YouTube (or BoobTube, whichever you prefer), which is accessed by way of the Internet. YouTube did not allow or instigate the student into breaking the window, and the Internet did not allow or instigate the student into breaking the window. The camera and computer manufacturers and retailers did not allow or instigate the student into breaking the window. The camera and computer manufacturers and retailers, just as gun manufacturers and retailers, are not at fault for any crime, wrongdoing, or mis, even though the individual used their products in the commission of the crime. Even if they used the camera and or computer itself to break the window.
I know some of you are already screaming bloody murder sice I stated that the gun did not allow the individual to commit the murder, since it was the gun that he used as his method to kill the individual. Similarly, guns are just as much a method of killing AND weapons as are bricks, knives, baseball bats, beer bottles, cars, tire irons, string/rope/piano wire, and human appendages.
Bad People Do Bad Things. Get used to it. There is absolutely NO reason to hold to world accountable for an individual's actions, no matter how despicable. Only the individuals who COMMITTED the crime have done anything wrong. Victims suing everybody and anybody for a wrong that was committed against them by someone are clearly out for money and/or "to leave their mark on the world". It doesn't benefit anyone but the "victim's" bank book or public image. Legislators are already O.K. with this crude, bastardized form of human logic.
Here's a novel idea: Instead of censoring the entire Internet because of content you don't like or agree with, try a less socially detrimental remedy to the problem: Make the kid pay for repairs.
Being a Litigant State is being a Police State by other means. I know. I live in California.
DISCLAIMER: I *DO* believe in holding gun manufacturers criminally responsible when they desing firearms that are badly engineered by any standard. This is very rare occurance, but there are 'engineers', IN EVERY INDUSTRY (not just firearms), who shouldn't be allowed to even pick up a pencil. If you want examples, read SlashDot often and you will eventually find them.
Since cows are now able to be bred prion-free, that doesn't fix the other possible vectors for prion contamination.
If my biology is correct:
Prions are malformed proteins. Can such malformed proteings be cause by genetic mutations from other sources? Even though a BSE-resistant cow has been bred to be 'free' of prions, and the genetic code that causes malformed prions to be created by biological processes withint the cow, can the genetic struture of a BSE-resistant cow mutate through some other avenue, such as naturally occurring radioisotopes (You anti-nuclear assclowns can shut up. Radioisotopes [and other mutagenic compounds] *DO* occurr naturally in harmful amounts in the Earth--- long before reactors and nuclear weapons existed), ultraviolet radiation, free radicals, and other naturally occurring mutagenic compounds?
In order to create a truly BSE-free heifer, wouldn't you need to eliminate all possible mutagenic compound exposure vectors?
Disclaimer: If my biology is incorrect or inaccurrate, I am only human.

Politicians Prefer Unarmed Peasants. Thankfully, I'm neither.

-Free counseling (we pay for the counselors)

Think about it: -Tax Exempt Status -Free from gambling regulations -You could form your own military, which would give you alot more breathing room in defending secure servers. (Hint: You could use artillery to defend from outside intruders) -No firearm regulations (read: all the toys you could dream of, consequence free) -It is nearly impossible for anyone to invade you or physically compromise secure servers. -Data storage free from regulation -Radio operations free from regulation .....And the top seven reasons why you should buy your own country:
1. You can fish without a license. .....On the downside, it could be a potential SPAM haven. .....On the upside of the downside, you know exactly where the SPAM haven is, so you could bomb the hell out of it.
I've known that Ajax was harmful since I was 1. Ever since then, I stopped eating things that I found under the sink.....
( bad pun )
If my biology is correct: Prions are malformed proteins.
Unions are for people who are too weak to survive on their own.....like gangs.
Ironically, the structure of unions is strikingly similar to the structure of gangs.
I ask myself: Do I even care?
