If we never go back, then us going in the first place was little better than a once and done gimmick. I'd call it more a demonstration of humanities short attention span and lack of drive than a testament to man's advancement.

Furthermore, sending robots to the moon and exploring the oceans are not mutually exclusive. There's nothing preventing people from doing both.

Sounds to me we should be praising them for their effective enforcement of the constitution.

they'll stage a coup because they don't like what the guy had for breakfast.

No. He was in clear violation of their constitution by attempting to effectively dismantle democratic rule. That is not a trivial matter.

The people who ousted Zelaya in their "coup" consisted of the rest of the goverment, and were acting lawfully according to their constitution. They already had all the evidence they needed to justify his legal removal from power. This is just another example of how corrupt he was, but by no means the sole justification.

All of this is quite obvious if you actually look into what happened, unless of course you're a Chavez lackey.

No. Stop being absurd. There are plenty examples of GPLd programs meant only for windows. While this might be a little silly in this case there is nothing "wrong" with it and you need to stop getting so upset about it.

The diagrams in the released PDF seem to indicate this is in the context of an air-burst type failure.

A failure of the rocket which involves the rocket simply crashing back into the ground doesn't seem to be covered here (though it's somewhat doubtable if such a failure could realistically take place).

  16. Re:IANARS but... on Early Abort of Ares I Rocket Would Kill Crew · · Score: 1

True enough. Also the linked articles are unclear what, if any, propulsion mechanisms the escape pod has. It seems to me like they may be relying on the explosion of the engine failure to propel them out of the explosion.

If this is the case then I can very much see how the Air Force's report makes sense. Small chunks of burning propellent are sure to fly faster/farther then some hunk of metal.

If I'm reading this right, the Air Force is saying that in the event of a complete failure (ie, the entire thing going to hell all of a sudden) the chances of survival would be zero.

This doesn't really indicate that chances of survival would be zero in all possible emergency abort scenarios.
