The city is in the middle of a campaign to reduce downtown parking read the whole article, or even the summary if you must, before you bitch about the fact that they're asking the city to do something.
The city wants to do something, but they won't do it when they're asked to.
Music that people download does not mean that they would purchase it.
Hypothetical situation:
A person downloads the entire collection of [insert your favourite band who's released >10 CDs here]. Does this mean that if downloading were not available to them, they would go out and purchase every single album they ever released?
NO!
What they (and many other people who download music) probably do, is buy one or two albums to support the artist, and download the rest.
Sure it's "lost" revenue for the artists, but big labels and their bands don't need the money, and most of their income is brought in through concerts, not CD sales anyways. Smaller artists, who aren't already bazillionaires, they may need your sales. So buy an independant artists CD today.
While CD's are much better sound quality than an mp3 file, it all depends on the system you listen to it on. On an iPod, no one's going to notice the difference between a flac file and an mp3 because it will all sound like shit coming out. With a nice set of speakers/amplifiers, you can tell the difference, but even coming off a CD, there is some loss of the original music.
Even better than a CD would be the vinyl. I don't know about any of you, but I prefer to listen to music through vinyl, as it has a much clearer sound (assuming you treat your equipment/discs right) and it loses much less of the original sound.
Even still, nothing compares to live in concert.
that's not what I said. I didn't say Canadians didn't care. or at least I didn't mean to. I said Americans probably don't care what we Canadians have to say about them polluting the lake.
I'm sure we Canadians should get a say, but since Lake Michigan is completely in the states, they probably don't care, and we probably can't do anything to stop them.
They fixed the javascript problem, but your contact list can still be accessed through xml
so, while the original problem that was found has been corrected, there's still other problems that work just as well, and probably many more yet to be discoverd ones.
Even the firehose article has the numbers right, but somehow once it's released to the public, they have to make a mistake?

In a stunning advancement in the basilisk robot development, the researchers have decided to name this new robot the "HOVERCRAFT".

...slashdot already covered the exact same story about four months ago.
is there any difference that I have failed to notice?
