"HD" for TVs is 1920 pixels wide and 1080 tall. This asus is 1920x1200. This means that it can just barely play HD footage, with not additional pixels.
So that extra 1920x120 space contains no pixels at all?
I don't really think humans will be around a million years from now. The way we are swallowing up resources, pushing the carrying capacity of the earth in terms of food production, and recklessly spoiling the environment, we could be extinct within 500 years.
Of all the species on Earth, we're the least likely to evolve much since we change our environments to suit _us_ (and we protect our weak and infirm from harm, even allowing them to procreate). Even without cheap fuel, humanity will survive (maybe not current civilizations, but that's not what is being discussed).
A major extinction or population crash is probably heading our way within the next few hundred years - possibly even within 100, unless we can maintain industrial agriculture without cheap oil.
A population crash, yes, but that's not extinction by a long shot.
Okay, anyone seen A mac loaded up with malware? (looks at Slashdot audience and sees no hands raised)
I have. Nasty stuff. And I'm not talking about the macs with Windows installed. This one was running Mac OS. Apple has been terrible about getting security patches out in a reasonable amount of time. It's like their marketing department won't allow the software guys to work on fixes right away because that would acknowledge a flaw in the OS.
Oh, and I totally pirated a delicious steak dinner last night. That was after I pirated a game of badminton while pirating some sunshine in my pirated backyard.
This made me think of a little town made of mushrooms in the woods where little blue people wearing black hats, hooks, and eye-patches live an idyllic life.
Nope, they're pointing out that the stick might be greater than the carrot in preventing wrongdoing. Hopefully the carrot is greater than the stick in causing beneficence.
Reminds me of the the advice regarding when a SO starts to think you're cheating out of the blue: they're probably cheating and are either projecting or assume you would be cheating too. Funnyjunk apparently assumes cyber-vandalism incitement is normal operating procedure.
It's not the number of colors but the color gamut. You seem to lack reading comprehension. The issue is not quantization (bit depth) but the saturation that can be achieved. One is completely unrelated to the other.
And you seem to lack comprehension of simple concepts. I said I want pixels. Not color. Hell, give me monochrome, but give me 19200x12000.
That's nice. I personally have no need for more colors in the currently limited screen space. I need to have a bigger view, even if it drops to 16bit color.
But it was there in 1995 and 1996. Plus by 1997, the general public was into the web enough that website URLs were regularly in TV commercials. That's still six years away from 2003. There was a concerted effort on the part of the RIAA to stifle electronic media because it would cut into their tape/CD sales. Even when iTunes started up, there were draconian price and DRM rules from the RIAA that stifled innovation and generated ill-will. Apple had to drag them kicking and screaming to their senses.
I don't understand software controlled fans. Apple iMacs have software controlled fans and if you use them in DOS, WinPE, a Linux live CD, or sometimes even MacOSX install disk, they start overheating (sometimes to the point of being uncomfortable to touch) because the fans won't run. The Apple support folks don't refer to this as overheating though because their book tells them to only consider "machine shuts down" as overheating.
What do you think hotdogs and sausage are made from?
Which is why it's a perfect game to out the stupidly dishonest.
Facebook bought Evite.

forget who you are for about an hour or so
Where do I sign up?
Wait, so are all these lame first posts made by Taco and Cowboy Neal?
in Christianity there is no Hell
Then why does Jesus discuss Hell multiple times?

That queen sea monkey was a real hottie!
I know, right!?
You must have a good pianer player for your films. Ours breaks out a couple turntables and scratches them fiercely.
Should have chosen the X-Ray specs. The only downside is my sea monkeys died from cancer.
I suspect that I will really see two very flickery movies at the same time, like every other 3D movie.
For the price of one and a half. What a deal!

I don't care about colors or power savings. Get me better DPI or just more pixels overall.
... or they just paid/threatened Microsoft. Much simpler and easier.
And it has the added bonus of being legal. "Moles in MS" would be a big no-no, no?

No, the app will be pulled from the app store. Learn your Apple insults.
That's not an insult. It's probably true. Apple will decide to implement the feature in iOS9, so they'll pull it now.
a £3.99 iPhone app saved him from spending hundreds of pounds on a dedicated hardware reader.
The iphone app will be £99 now
A guy at my work has a good safety slogan: Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt.
