Yes, let's blame the white man, as usual. Surely it is impossible that the immigrants and their children could be somehow responsible for their own destiny.
Muslim immigrants and their children have the exact same problems everywhere, ergo the problem is with them, not with whatever government is in charge.
When people say that immigrants need to accept Western values, they mean the really basic values we have, such as freedom of religion and gender equality. Unfortunately these basic values are diametrically opposed to values that, ahem, certain cultures have.
How do you define a legitimate military target? How do you differentiate between an insurgent and a terrorist? If you attack a purely civilian target to achieve military ends (i.e. continued bombing of innocent civilians to convince a foreign power to cease the occupation of a country), does that not make the civilians a military target?
Well, I suppose you can adopt the attitude that the "insurgents" in Iraq are trying to convince the Coalition to pull out by slaughtering as many civilians as humanly possible.
What defines an insurgency -- a group of people trained to use lethal force? someone sanctioned by a political body to use that force?
In Iraq I would use the term to describe people who want to free Iraq (as a nation) by attacking Coalition forces because they consider them to be invaders and not liberators. However, I doubt there's anyone in there that fits that description. They're mostly conducting Jihad againts the Great Satan. And then there's the Sunni-Shia war and whatnot.
al Qaeda is both of those, as is Hezbolah, yet most of the rest of the world considers them terrorist groups.
That's because they are.
Was the attack on the Pentagon not an attack on a legitimate military target? Was it not also a terrorist attack?
It was Jihad, and therefore terrorism. Doesn't matter what the target was.
How is the player's experience mutually exclusive with finding out what happens to interesting characters? RPGs and adventure games are just as plot-driven as books or movies.
I didn't cry when Aeris died, but I was sad, the same way people are sad when something similiar happens in movies or books. As many fine games demonstrate, there's nothing in games as a medium that's preventing people from having an emotional connection. Far Cry and Grim Fandango are both video games, but whereas Grim Fandango gives me a strong emotional connection to the characters and events, Far Cry is just a B-grade action movie.
Come on... is it no longer possible to post anything on Slashdot without getting downmodded? I guess in the future I'll just post "Bush is dumb" until I have so much karma that it crashes the server.
I'm sure there's always somebody, but I have never heard anyone say "I'm worried that there aren't enough men/women in [uninteresting profession]." It's always something about doctors or CEOs, or CS students.
This is insane feminism at its finest. It's not enough that women can completely freely choose to study CS, because "equality" won't be achieved until women make up 50% or more of CS students. Meanwhile, nobody cares how many women are training to be plumbers, electricians or truck drivers. Nobody cares how many men are becoming hairdressers, fashion designers or nurses. I do believe the field of plumbing is suffering because it lacks a feminine perspective, our entire civilization could be in danger of collapsing as a result.
Feminists won't be satisfied until there's a nanny state regulating how many percent of women make up any given field of study or profession.
However, what about when it isn't as clear-cut, like the example about the man on top of the woman in the parking lot? If you make the wrong call, you're liable for the wrongful death.
Or you can just pull out your gun and demand to know what's going on, instead of immediately shooting everyone in sight.
Repeat after me: problem has persisted for years. Problem not related to hardware. Problem unrelated to how Windows is configured, what drivers are used or what kind of settings are used. Nobody has any idea what's causing it, and that includes you.
Just how fucking difficult is this for you to grasp? Maybe you should tell me what's wrong with my computer instead of just whining that the problem is easily fixed.
They are treated like second class citizens because of their own behavior. And no, I don't quite think they know a damn thing about French values.

A few weeks ago I saw a few players with wallhacks, aimbots and speedhacks. And before that I saw a couple of other cheaters.
Or they'll be hired as level designers for game development studios. Then we're all fucked.
I'm only saying this because it's such a common mistake.
In theory, and only according to some people.

I don't think it's doable. There are no "insurgents" in Iraq and Afghanistan, they're terrorists.

This mystery, unlike so many others, can be explained by Blizzard's programmers.
Yeah, 9/11 wasn't a big deal but a mortar strike againts tabletop players in a warzone will surely push the US government over the edge.
Considering how incredibly unpopular conservative and right wing views are, you have nothing to worry about.
If my opponent has a gun, I'm being irresponsible and dangerous by drawing my weapon? Okay...
All the more reason for you to pull your own.

Why would it be a bad idea?
What the fuck is your problem? Are you completely fucking dense? Does anything get through to you?
Or you can just pull out your gun and demand to know what's going on, instead of immediately shooting everyone in sight.
Preventing a crime or helping a victim of a crime does not make you a vigilante.

In true liberal style, the first impulse is always to downmod.
