This is really a legal issue? Can I be put in jail for taking a few 100 extra monopoly dollars when no one is looking? The first thing I can think of is Insider Trading, which is punishable, but is a video game = the stock market?
It's their game and they run it, so they make the rules. You don't play it offline or at the dinner table, you play it on Blizzard's servers on the Internet.
I have no tolerance for cheaters. I hope Glider suffers.
Yet another instance of victimhood and blaming The Man, popular culture, mass media or cosmic radiation, which is something that a few other groups do as well (feminists and Muslims come to mind, but I'm sure there are more). Video games aren't turning black kids into pimps, drug dealers and thugs, and claiming otherwise isn't going to turn them into upstanding citizens. This is no different from Jack Thompson claiming that video games turn people into violent killers. Same shit. Also, I think gangsta rap might be a much more powerful influence on youth than GTASA.
Perhaps people should be more concerned about reality itself, rather than how that reality is mirrored by games or popular culture. But, people suffering from victimhood are unable to take or assign responsibility, so they blame some convinient external force. I predict that African Americans might be more succesful if they spent less time blaming The Man and wallowing in self-pity, and more time doing something constructive.

I mean the battle after you've left your brother (I saved him too by the way) and returned to the park via the subway. You fight that cyborg guy, I forgot what his name was. Every time I died or otherwise failed, I immediately reloaded, so I had no idea that I was supposed to fail.
Lavos is undefeatable, you die so fast that there's no doubt about the impossibility of the battle. It's only through New Game+ (possibly after two or more playthroughs) that you'll be able to kill him. It's pretty cool that with NG+ you can kill Lavos in various stages of the game, even right at the beginning before the plot starts.
There's a minigame in Twilight Princess that you can't beat until you have the right item. It's subtly hinted that something is wrong about the situation, but it's not immediately obvious. You lose 10 rupees every time you compete.
In Deus Ex there's a battle that you simply cannot win, and it's predetermined that you'll lose. The only problem is that I couldn't possibly know this, so I spent a lot of time devising strategies and planting mines, until I read online that I'm supposed to die. Total bullshit.
Baldur's Gate II and Jade Empire don't have level grinding or quests where you have to kill twenty rats and collect ten goat livers. Leveling up is something that just happens, you don't have to worry about it. It seems like everyone, including the article's author, is assuming CRPG = MMORPG.
The article itself is just "wah wah MMORPGs suck and I don't want to play them." He isn't even offering any solutions, but apparently he wants his MMORPGs to start on level 70/70 with the best equipment. I'm sure that's great fun!
Kind of hard to create balance when every class is convinced that its nerfed, broken and generally worthless, unlike all those other classes that are overpowered, imba and ez-mode.
You also over estimate the appeal of FPS. The simple fact is that WoW has shown the world that FPS just ain't popular. Just add up all the people that PAY for multiplayer FPS and then look at the 8 million PAYING subscribers for WoW.
What does WoW have to do with FPS games? They aren't mutually exclusive or even competing for customers. WoW has broader appeal and has lesser system requirements than many FPS games, but that doesn't mean that FPS games are suddenly umpopular. Also, it's not technically possible to make a MMO FPS games on par with WoW.
The stupidity of WoW players has made me punch my keyboard on more than one occasion, and that's actually one of the reasons why I will never join a guild. Do I really want to guild with a bunch of fucking morons, some of who might actually be psychopaths? I play solo as much as I can, and only group when there's no choice or it's convinient.
Fallout has a system like that, at least to some extent. Another game that comes to mind is Silent Storm, where you can lose accuracy from arm shots and action points from leg shots. You can also suffer from bleeding, blindess, deafness and unconsciousness.
Neither is the idea that any group on this planet is harmless or that any person on the internet is saying the truth.
And what does this statement have to do with anything?
Let's lock up all followers of any religion, there have been violent people among them and we have no evidence that the rest of them aren't secretly planning to take over the world.
While we're at it, let's completely ignore the fact that all religions are different and that some religions have killed more people than others, and for different reasons than others. Nothing should stand in the way of Universal Moral Equivalency. And by the way, many Muslims have repeatedly asserted that Islam should dominate the entire world. It's a part of Islam.
And everyone knows: A single case establishes a trend!
That's why I said "judging by Lisa Nowak," in case you didn't read the post.
Should you actually feel like checking murder rates, rape rates, battery rates, etc, you'll find that men are far more (statistically) prone to violence than women.
What does this have to do with anything?
In other news, I see that Slashdot's vigilant and entirely anonymous moderators are again abusing modpoints. Or perhaps they have no fucking clue what a flamebait is.
The notion that the "vast majority of Muslims" are more or less harmless is a dogma that isn't based on any evidence or rational thinking.
I do think the anti-muslim propaganda (i.e. spreading the belief that muslim = terrorist) could facilitate another holocaust, this time targeting said muslims and I think it's only a matter of time until a politician can gain influence by playing off that fear of "the others".
If it ever happens, it will be because of people like you. Something bad will likely happen in Europe, when tensions between Muslim immigrants and Europeans finally spiral out of control, or people become desperate and vote for an extreme right-wing political party because nobody else would do anything about the issue. The longer people ignore the problem, the worse it gets. Multiculturalist hippies are slowly but surely causing the very things they want to avoid.
I don't know if they were ever prosecuted. Probably not. Something similiar was done in the UK, and incitements of violence and genocide were plentiful.
What's tolerated and what's not tolerated often depends on what ethnic group or religion you belong to.
Speaking of TF2, I wonder how well it will do againts Fortress Forever which, based on what I've seen of both games, is vastly superior to TF2, and will likely be released earlier. Valve is competing againts a mod running on their own game.

Interesting how even this gets modded flamebait.

I honestly believe that griefers are suffering from antisocial personality disorder. It's really the only explanation that makes sense.

There are many statistics available, but they are not really what I'm basing my views on. But then, neither are you.
Who said I'm taking a few people?
Fallout has a system like that, at least to some extent. Another game that comes to mind is Silent Storm, where you can lose accuracy from arm shots and action points from leg shots. You can also suffer from bleeding, blindess, deafness and unconsciousness.
I'm talking about astronauts, not the general prison population of the country.
You didn't like GoW, therefore the judges, reviewers and players were stupid to like it.

Judging by Lisa Nowak, I don't think women are the right choice for space missions.

I think the boxart makes it look like it's a DVD full of pirated games.

There's no choice but to arm police forces with automatic rocket launchers. It's about time.
I quit NWN2 because it sucked, not because it was hard.
