Considering the amount of final fantasy games making their way to the DS, I'd say that a final fantasy game on the Wii isn't all that unlikely. That said, final fantasy is one of the best franchises that Sony has for their system, and they aren't going to let it slip away easily. I would be very surprised to see the main line of final fantasy games leave the PS3 unless Sony really screws up.
Of course people are still going to buy it, I don't think that was ever in question. The thing is, PS2 dominated the previous console generation, and started with a huge advantage by default. Despite this, they seem to be doing everything in their power to actively throw that advantage away. The PS3 should have easily dominated again, but now it looks like there is a decent chance that it will bomb horribly.
The GPL isn't preventing DLink from copying, modifying, or distributing. The only thing that they're preventing is DLink taking those rights from others when they use GPL'd code to make their programs.
I don't see how having a lot of sequals are bad things. Many of the best games I've ever played are sequals, such as Baldur's Gate 2, Galactic Civilizations 2, both Medieval and Rome Total War, Caesar 3, ect. This isn't like movies where sequals are very often blatant cash grabs. In many cases, game sequals are honest attempts to improve upon their predecessors, and in many cases they are successful.
I don't think that this would really be an example of problems caused by hype. From what I've seen, the only sort of "multiplayer" that has ever been mentioned for spore is the automatic distribution of user made content.

In my experience, that is a terrible rule of thumb. Perhaps it is the case for the genere's that you prefer, but I haven't noticed this trend.
Will no one rid me of these meddlesome music executives?
