    I'm surprised at the way they were doing it. I'd think they'd have a backdoor into the telco to do this, but apparently this location info normally gets sent out of the country and they just had to intercept it? WTF?

    That's what makes it legal. They are intercepting foreign communications, not domestic.

    No one forces you to use commercial airlines when you travel.

    Um... What other airlines are there? Military, perhaps, but I don't expect that they take on civilian passengers very often.

    I said "after", not "because of". I didn't know when they dropped their "Easter egg" routes, but I knew it would have been after 9-11. I didn't realize 9-11 pre-dated Google maps itself.

    Maybe the power draw ramps up over time? Rate of change of power can be measured in kW/h.

    kW/hour is rate of change of power, or how much demand or supply changes over time. Not something a household would need to worry about, but the folks at the power generating stations might make use of such units.

    Rocket engine efficiency is measured in seconds, so it is entirely possible to have a 20 second burn that lasts 5 minutes.

    Are fly by wire brakes even legal? It was my understanding that there must always be a mechanical linkage between the brake pedal and the brakes, just to give you a hail mary if your brake booter craps out.

    Ditto with the steering, no? It's that way with power steering and brakes.
