  7. Does that include the self-issued certs of cPanel on 22 Million SSL Certificates In Use Are Invalid · · Score: 1

because, you know, cpanel and similar control panels are very dominant in hosting, and each box houses hundreds of sites. and cpanel and other firms do not go buying certificates for each server license they issue, and the hosts that are using those cpanel/whm installs do not require all the 200 or so clients using the same box buy their own server certificates to reach their own control panels. therefore, the certificates are self issued. ie mydomain.com/cpanel will redirect you to very probably a ssl connection, but the cert wont match the domain. there isnt anything wrong with this either, these people just access their own site's control panel themselves and need encryption for it. they dont need to verify that their own domain, is their own domain.

it is flashy, and a lot of advertising and hype is being done around it.

second, it is coded in a very developer hostile fashion, sometimes in a way akin to metaphorically showing the left ear with your right hand. functions are piped into functions, routines unnecessarily, creating unseemly and unnecessary overhead in the process. this actually seems to be a recent trend in making the code open source, but hostile to external development, channel users to original developers/software house. you can see this being employed in a number of software out there, apart from magento. anything you do in any kind of other php based code, even the most problematically coded scripts, will become a pain in the ass to do in magento. this also increases development time, charges, and shrinks the third party developer base as well as userbase even further, due to higher costs of development compared to anything else.

third, it, for some reason, despite being a shopping cart, has 10,000+ lines of code. go figure.

it is very disturbing that /. gets easily exploited for peddling possessive bloatware like this.

yes i have come to that conclusion. in capitalism, there will always be minority groups with much more wealth (therefore power and influence) than the masses.

alternative is heavy social democracy. in which government, as a tool, controls the country and regulates it heavily. and taxes the wealthy to the extent that they cant amass huge wealth to lobby. works well in sweden, norway, denmark etc.

but tho, there may be a new alternative - direct democracy. a democracy in which everything is communally owned, and every kind of decision is taken by direct participation of the people. everything is operated through highly developed and efficient collaboration and decision mechanisms and automation. these have become possible only with the advent of internet.
