i didnt buy the game. i dont like games in which i cant choose what i do.

so, before talking about physics engines, havok, this that and button mashing, set your gameplay straight by giving players a choice. choice and variance are what separated knights of the old republic series from almost all similar games and made them standards.

  4. We can use some Google influence in gaming on Zynga Investment May Herald Google Games · · Score: 2, Interesting

since advent of cds and industrialization of gaming, games increasingly became brutal capitalism products, purely made to make the maximum profit over them without paying much attention to the gamers' desires. all games, gaming studios either have gone the way of becoming extremely bloated, little gameplay - max visuals, max gore/extremism range, or gone the way of maximum simplicity, minimum effort way. all are done to target the general populations most exploitable characteristics to just make the box sell. rest is not that important. and the studios who were doing real games have either had to go the same way, or got bought by conglomerates and made to choose the same way.

thus some google influence may be good in this sector. we need more gameplay, more fun, entertainment in games.

  5. Dont think so. on Has Any Creative Work Failed Because of Piracy? · · Score: 1

because, piracy of any material is directly proportional to its success. and if something is a success, it already makes the money it can make in a market with the current prices and distribution channels.

publishing, distribution companies harm the creative content much more than anything else as of now. they constitute a huge percentage of the end cost that reflects on the customer, and the original creators receive only minor percentages compared to that. in music, its even more horrible - artists receive cents over the cds they sell, and instead are forced to earn money in long concert tours. they incur wear and tear, start behaving extreme, antisocial, or take up drugs to alleviate the stress, and often become unproductive or, even need hospitalization after some point. only, a few artists and bands who were able to negotiate their own terms with the leverage they had early in their career are able to continue in a meaningful fashion. (madonna etc)

the experiments of radiohead, nine inch nails proved that even if you yourself encourage piracy, or even give out your album entirely, saying 'pay however much you want', you can make much more money overnight that you would make by contracting a major label and going on concerts for over a year. when this becomes a commonplace method, bands may not earn as much as the initial experiments. BUT, it is almost certain now that they will make much more money with much less effort, than they would be able to when going out on tours for a major label.

that means you havent been following economist.

precisely the articles/views that any given american conglomerate dominant in any given field is publicized in economist exactly at the convenient times. no earlier, no less. american media industry stages an attack against net neutrality ? you will find economist either preceding it with an article or following immediately after it starts. copenhagen talks are coming up in regard to climate ? same. moreover, the views and defenses it reflects also continues in lockstep with whatever that industry is using at any given time - ie, economist does not oppose carbon tax or climate change in ways that are different than the industry it is being a mouthpiece for - it uses the exact chosen argument of that industry at that given time. when the industry drops the 'sun is heating the earth' excuse, economist drops it too. when the industry sees that the 'it is a cycle' approach is not so sound anymore, economist doesnt insist, it updates its approach.

they are doing critical pieces on bp, probably because it is first a british corporation, second, it screwed up SO bad, third, bp going out of scene will make it easier for american oil companies. all is calculated.
