Indian Americans will be tempted. They dont depend on the school district to educate their children. They spend a lots of time educating the kids at home after school. All kinds of math lessons, and science projects and home work help. So moving to Tulsa might give them lots of easy school topping valedictorian opportunities.
Already Edison NJ, and Cupertino, CA school districts have been converted to the very same pressure cooker rat race school system of Indian middle class has created in India. Most of the Indian immigrants of the 1990s are from such systems, they are the top 0.1% of Indian academics, and they are not going to rest till their kids make it to Caltech *and* Harvard. We just hope the first generation Indian American kids are saner than their parents when they come of age.
Educated, liberal women will scotch any idea of moving to such a backward place like Tulsa, OK.
Pharmacists can refuse to dispense contraception. Plan B not available. Can be prosecuted if you go out of state for abortion.
Politicians dont care, laws dont apply to them. They get abortions for their family members and other cheating partners all the time out of state. They know they will not be prosecuted. They know people who know people. But working stiffs who might be tempted by 10K and an apartment, they are not going to risk facing a district attorney hoping to score some news access by making them the scapegoat.
I never paid any attention to money. I never trade. I just do what I love doing, and what I love doing pays me well.
Your cynicism is beyond the normal range, approaching bitterness due to seeing something/someone you hate succeed. Given TSLA is the largest short for several years running, it is very much possible you are just a TSLA short who got electrocuted.
That is how most rich people think. Just delay it, global warming, population explosion, running out of oil, precarious infrastructure, giving away the crown jewels of the economy to the enemy, nothing matters, as long as I am convinced all the bad things will happen after my lifetime.
The people who care are the evangelists. Either the old style religious evangelists and the new breed of nature, vegetarianism, environmentalism evangelists.
That is the problem. The efficiency will be poorer compared to the propeller type, traditional three blade, wind turbines.
But, efficiency does not matter, because the source of energy, the wind, is practically free. So it does not matter if you waste 80% of zero cost thing or 60% of zero cost thing.
Its the cost per megawatt, maintenance etc that will determine its usability. Spins on vertical axis, does not need complex steering mechanism. large towers with super heavy horizontal load on top is not needed. It will cut down the cost a lot. Lots of internal wanes that will improve the structural integrity and you can probably get away with cheaper recycled plastic, reinforced with metal strips would be helpful. The same internal vanes prove a lot more of the "skin" to the airflow increasing the drag (and that is good in this case, more drag, more energy leaving the airstream and transferring to the turbine.)
Some shaping of the vanes, adjusting the gaps and passages, may be eject the air upwards etc might improve the design.
Next step would be to dance to the song "developers developers developers". Then throw chairs. Grab the phone of employees and smash them on the ground.
Eventually wind up owning some ever losing sports team. Actually all the loss in corporate management is just preparation for the losses in sport franchises.
Come on people, the International Standards of Units and Measurements is head quartered in Paris.. But Paris is NOT a standard unit of measurement for area.
Area is always measured in Rhode Islands, volume in Olympic Sized Swimming Pools, Length in Football fields, ( = 10 school buses). Information in LoC (Library of Congress). BTW, length != distance. Distances are measured in Trips Around the Equator.
The night vision goggles of the American forces was such a huge advantage, almost all the night time sniping and attacks were thwarted. And our forces could move with impunity at night because the enemy can not see them.
So there was a real danger the war could end and the military industrial racket could lose billions of dollars. Now we can put all those fears to rest, and invest in all the defense companies. These phones will be a big hit in Afghanistan. Now the playing field is leveled and the insurgents and the enemy can drag out the war.
I can hear champagne corks popping all over wall street and investment houses. Great job guys. Next time do it earlier, dont drag it out till the last moment.
Toxoplasma Gondii is a virus with fascinating life cycle. It matures and reproduces deep in a cat's gut, but its eggs hatch inside mice bodies. Mice coming in contact cat urine, feces, get infected and they lose the fear of cats and they start liking the smell of cats and thus get eaten by the cat. Thus allowing the virus to reach where it can reproduce for the next generation.
This virus infects humans too. They become very fond of cats, cat smells.
So we know there are viruses (or virii?) that live in brain without causing too serious immediate damage. So why not bacteria?
In some sense our bodies are symbiotic collections of individual cells.
Present a hypothesis to explain new data, then test that hypothesis by falsification.
Hold your horses cowboy. You are talking to non scientific crowd. They have already forwarded your statements via twitter and facebook, "Science advances by falsifying data! Science proponent open admits it and is proud of it!"
Think it through. Electric miles are four times cheaper than gas miles. Only 2% of the electric miles will be bought away from home, 98% will be bought from the utility.
Revenue potential of supercharging network is, 200 times less than the revenue of gas stations. Does it sink in? 200 times less, when ALL the cars are electric. Right now EVs are less than 1%. So current total revenue of charging networks is 20,000 times less than the gas stations. Gas stations sell 500 million dollars a year of gasoline. The charging networks are collecting about 25,000$ a year for the whole country. Anecdotally I have never paid more than 9 dollars for any charging session.
With economics like this, independent charging networks will not take off. Without independent charging networks no one will buy electric cars. This is the last wall protecting the gas companies.
Tesla thought this far ahead. They knew six years ago, without a money losing charging network, the EVs will forever be compromised vehicles. That is why they built a network. Tesla is compatible with industry standard plugs too. So when Electrify America or whatever takes off, Tesla can plug in to that too.
Spokesman for Broadcom, Corpor Atethief has responded to these news reports:
"The botnet is run by criminals and instead of blaming the criminals, and the ineptitude of the law enforcement, the narrative has been to attack the job creators and the legitimate businesses. Broadcom has created thousands of jobs and has created millions of dollars for its shareholders. It would be really unfortunate if such stellar corporate performance is undone due to onerous job killing regulations by the Washington bureaucrats. We call for the government to catch the criminals and bring them to justice.
We also take this time to announce our new great business venture. We are getting into home building. We hope to make homes more affordable by removing useless things like locks and latches. They interfere with the aesthetics of the homes without significantly adding to the comfort and the utility of the home. Being the job creators, we implore the municipalities to do their job of law enforcement, so that we dont need these locks and latches and other security devices. As a publicly traded company, it is our mission to use other people's money to make huge load of profits, take as much as possible as executive compensation, throw some bones to the wall street and externalize as much of our costs as possible, because we are job creators."
fluffernutter, you are a level 24 achiever, with 2^6 level 5 insightful comments.
You lose nothing by admitting, BEV would be very attractive to lots of other people. Mark of a great person is changing one's conclusions when contrary evidence is presented.
Richard Dawkins mentions an anecdote. An old professor never accepted the ESS (evolutionarily stable strategies) and was big proponent of some thing else, like group selection theory. After 20 years of picking faults with ESS, in one seminar he announced, "I have been wrong. The evidence is conclusive. ESS is correct. My preferred theory is wrong". The students stood up and clapped till they were red in their hands.
Electric cars go 4 miles per kWh [1]. A kWh sells for 12 cents by the utility. Cost per mile 3 cents. [2]
Gas price 3 $/gal, 25 MPG gives you 12 cents/mile.
Electric miles are four times cheaper than gas miles. QED.
[1] Tesla Model 3: Range= 310 miles, Battery= 75 kWh; Efficiency 4.1 miles/kWh Source
[2] Price by state. From 10 cents / kWh in Lousiana to 30 cents / kWh in Hawaii. Cutting off outliers, 10th most expensive 16 cents, 10th least expensive 11 cents Source
Within 3 years, Tesla, Leaf and Bolt will be at or below 35K. Only Tesla has supecharger network. Some third party networks are coming up. In three years you can have your pick. Same price gas car or BEV.
It is very much possible, the dealer will offer you 300$ scrap value for your gas trade in seven years from now.
Yes, you would. How many others would not? Are sure you are even in the majority about ignoring 80 cent gas? This is exactly the deal: There are gas stations selling gas at 80 cents a gallon. But there is always a 30 minute wait. How many people would think it is a fair deal, especially if they can also get the same 80 cents a gallon gas delivered to their garage, but at the rate of two gallons an hour ?
No, Tesla does not build to order. The website lets you configure 'anything', but actual production is different.
It collects orders, and uses some AI to predict the sales, and builds them in batches. It misfires, it under predicted the demand for AWD, and they had unsold RWD. Looks like it over predicted the performance version and they are clearing the inventory with price reductions and incentives. They have a huge 3750$ tax cut reduction coming on Dec 31. That will help them clear all the inventory. Already fan sites are talking about getting demo cars and inventory cars to get the full tax cut.
This is probably true. Tesla is growing too fast, and they did had assembly line nightmare and production hell. Then when they cleared it, it was delivery nightmares and hell. Soon there will be , perhaps already is, service hell.
All part of growing up. The production cost per vehicle dropped 30% from Q2 to Q3, due to training and experience of the workers. The started with such poor training and planning. Well, they will eventually sort it all out. Driving a BEV is like having gasoline at 80 cents a gallon. That will trump everything else, as price parity with ICE powertrain is within grasp.
Tesla is too new to have a "faithful customer base",
What? Tesla has been shipping cars since 2012. There are tons and tons of two Tesla households. That does not count as repeat buyers? So many of the people who lined up to reserve model 3 are S and X owners. Surveys show 85% of Tesla owners are planning to buy a Tesla again. Tesla has the highest owner satisfaction ratings. Despite the parts shortage and lengthening service appoint times, it is still loved by every owner.
You test drive a model 3 performance. You wont go back to a gas car.
Gas is selling at $3.20 a gallon everywhere. But there are gas stations about 40 miles apart on highways selling it for 80 cents a gallon. Would you pay attention to which exit you need to take and watch the fuel levels and plan your route taking advantage of these cheap but few and far between gas stations?
In 2020, ICEV and BEV will have price parity. And gas miles are four times more expensive than electric miles.
You do see lots of brand new cars on dealers lots right? Tesla has no dealers. It sells directly. It stores cars wherever it is cheap.
Pick any car model that sells about 250,000 units a year. Subaru Legacy, Hyundai Sonata... How many new cars you see in their dealership lots. Is the Tesla lot bigger or smaller?

It works, but it is hardly revolutionary.
It spins. How much more revolutionary can it get?

Still bitter about losing your shirt shorting TSLA? eh? Get over it.
For area we have "Size of football field (= 1 micro Rhode Island)" and "Size of Manhattan (= 1 milli Rhode Island)".
SI = Systems Idiotica
