I agree that it is important for kids to have experiences they can learn from. I well remember using the 'thing-maker' toy as a kid (basically just an exposed heating element used for cooking plastic), and sure I burnt my fingers numerous times. Taught me to be careful around hot things.
I was in Japan a number of years ago as a tourist, and came across a morning TV show aimed at kids. The show was teaching kids how to use knives in the kitchen. A little girl was giving instructions on how to hold it, how to cut, etc... It was probably aimed at the 5 to 10 age range. Instead of sheltering their kids from everything, the Japanese were teaching their kids important things they'll need in life.
Thanks for all the tips on making a better search. I was just surprised that a relatively obscure search string needs this. In the past I would feel confident getting back a few good links with a string like 'johan svendsen', I guess times have changed.
Speaking of accurate results, I recently tried to get info on 'johan svendsen', a composer circa 1880s from norway.
Google results are completely hacked for this search phrase, all the top results are links to random sites trying to sell you CDs. Since I wasn't searching for some pop musician, I didn't expect to get this type of result. Maybe time to reconsider getting in on that IPO...
smartmoney.com has had an application like this for some time, it displays stock market activity graphically with larger boxes indicating more importance. http://www.smartmoney.com/ tools->ma p of the market
My folks still had all my legos from 35 years ago in a closet. I have given them to my kids now to play with, they love 'em. Not a 'special' piece in the bunch.
Funny thing is, when I help my kids with them, I come across the same 'problematic' pieces that I remember as a kid, i.e. the ones that don't snap quite tightly enough!

ben hecks' site is going straight to heck...
The head of the software giant told the BBC that its ambition is to be bigger than Google in search
Perhaps their ambition should be to stay bigger than Google in word processing, operating systems, etc...
Too late, they've already dipped their feet in the evil pool. Their news feeds are selected to favor their own political leanings. No doubt they will apply the same bias to wikipedia if they get their hands on it.
1. First they ignore you,
2. then they laugh at you,
3. then they fight you, <--- you are here
4. then you win.

Can't do it. The CEO's have to be in this country. Because that's where the golf courses are.
This sounds like a great idea, I can't imagine spammers will pay for new domains for each mailing to avoid re-using the same link or image host.
You must have a large list of known links to filter out. Is there a chance you can post them somewhere for someone else to use?
Here are 4 keywords I just came up with that will be filtered for me...

...is lack of content. How can I get excited about technology that allows me to tape crap?
I've got a bunch of vintage computer ads on my website. These are much older, circa 1981
