Just a quick note. Your calculation assumes that they do one at a time back to back. But lets get a little more realistic. Lets assume that they aren't completly insane and use 40 machines to do testing with. Keeping the 10 second per drive(automated), and that isn't unreasonable considering these drives are mostly blank, then we come up with 22 days. That's just 3 weeks to make sure that their product isn't causing harm to the rest of the world.
I'm just saying Apple could enforce simple guidelines to make sure that their drives are are sent out exactly as intended. It's not impossible.
THANK YOU! I know a lot of geeks who understand that text book random could have to 2 values that are ordered next to one another, can also be next to another in a "random" sampling. What they can not fathom in their wildest dreams is that, that kind of random is not what people are looking for. They'll say, "But if you don't let the values be next to each other then it's not really random." And I have to keep reiterating that it doesn't matter. I don't want to hear 3 Crystal Method songs back to back(even when they are in different albums) when I have 500 hundred songs from other artists that I want to hear.
Very true. With a button press (or mouse squeeze on my desktop), I can see all the windows at once. So I'm a button press and a click (or a squeeze and a click) away from anything. However, with Flip3D, I'm a button press, a bunch of scrolling, and a click away from anything.
Also, Exposé is also useful if I need to see both windows at once, like if I'm typing something based on something I'm reading (summarizing news articles in my case) or if I need to compare 2 or more images for some reason.
Also, Exposé runs fine on a 1.33 GHz G4 with 32 MB VRAM (although most OS X eye candy like 64 MB VRAM), while Flip 3D will require 64MB or, more likely, 128MB VRAM.
Spoken like a person who has never used Flip 3D. Don't worry most people haven't. Yes some windows that haven't been used in a while are in the back of the "flip." But those that are closer you can see enough detail to know if you want that window. And guess what... You don't actually have to keep flipping to get to that window! Just click on it using the mouse will bring up the window. Done. At the very least you didn't have to waste too much space on seeing an window that you haven't used recently.
Also in Windows they had the ability to view 2 windows side by side for a very long time. CTRL + Click any of the windows you want to view side by side in the task bar. Then Right click on one of them and choose Tile Vertically or Horizontally. Done again! Side by side windows to help ease comparing pictures or documents. I've been doing that since Windows NT 4. And shoot it might have been in Win 95 for all I know.
Either way it's no big deal that you can do it in OS X or Windows. It's not a big deal who got it first. It's just that OS X makes it more visible by telling everybody, "hey look what I can do."
Absolutely correct. The summary is wrong and should be corrected. But here in the comment section I think talking about the new issue of having a trademark on POD or IPOD.
What would you think would happen to me if I came out with a cool white cat scratcher(sleek and sexy) and called it an iPawed. It's cute and it's not a music player in anyway. It's non threatening, and no one will confuse a cat scratcher for whatever Apple is selling. But I know Apple lawyers are reading this right now and are filling out the necessary c&d papers.
ps. To the Apple lawyers - I know your jealous that you didn't think of it first but please don't sue me into oblivion
First of all that congressperson was being rediculous. Obviously the people who hired the congressperson failed to see that he did not understand the difference in discrete and continious commodities...
Secondly, obviously the dynamic of your example on gas prices in Jersey/New York would change dramatically if the said persons worked in New Jersey and lived in New York(yeah I know that's quite silly in itself, but the idea still stands). Now instead of not saving money in the quest for cheaper gas, the persons in question could be saving themselves from paying even more money. They HAVE to cross the bridge for their job, but they don't have to pay for the more expensive gas in New York.
I'm not exactly sure if it's Yahoo's fault. I have had an Y! Mail account now for 6 years. and honestly my email address wasn't created by the Gods. If you knew my name I gaurentee you'd guess my Y! mail address in half a minute
And yet for the first 5 1/2 solid years I haven't had a single spam message. Amazing. I haven't given out my address to anyone but friends, family, and for school use. Seemed good enough for me. But 1/2 a year ago I got my first. I thought my lucky streak ended. I got one spam per day. then 2. then 3... but then it stayed steady at 2. Two spam messages a day. Not bad if I don't say so myself. 6 months later today it actually seems to be going down for me. Somedays I get 1. Sometimes its back to the good ole days of just friends and family. So while I'm not exactly spam free, I'm pretty darn close and this is all over 6 years.
Now for the others. When I signed up for Y! Mail I also signed up for Hotmail. Just for geeky comparison sakes. Today Hotmail gets for me about 30-40 spam messages per day. Yoikes. But I sign up for everything(and I do mean everything) using that account. Amazingly I still use Hotmail, aka. Live Mail, mostly because I absolutly love the new AJAXy interface. With AdBlock it's almost perfect. It's faster than Gmail(I have one of those also) and Y! Mail beta on my god awful slow work machine. And as long as the have the option to make sure that the inbox is only for known senders Live Mail will be good enough.
They already have an iTunes enabled DVD media player with hard drive. It's called a Mac Mini. Maybe you've heard of it. Comes with FrontRow(tm). Small, little thing that looks like it was made by someone who hates buttons. Oh you know what I'm talking about.
Seriously. Why would Apple want to make a set top box when they already have a good enough machine to do the job? As far as I know Apple isn't in the business of making set top boxes. But they do put together a fairly good computer. So why would they want to put something else at a $200 or $300 price point when people are willing to shell out $500-$800. Doesn't sound like a good business idea to me.
The real question is, are you qualified to judge a person for their opinions mostly about a system that they are very qualified for? Linspire/Freespire strain and strain to be the Easy To Use Linux.
And yes as a windows user he/she is very qualified to know whether or not a system is comfortable enough for the average joe(being one) to use. On the other hand being "rude" is another reason Linux gets a bad rep. Sure it's powerful, lightweight, and really cool to use, but the people out there that can help get passed some of the sore spots are awful jackasses. hmmm something to think about.
Yeah I'm also waiting for the battery life to be better when using Rockbox. But after it's done I'm installing it faster that you can say, "Apple stole my money."
Remember they don't have a final version of Rockbox for iPods yet. Their target date for that is November. It's promised that all the battery issues will be ironed out by then. I'm crossing my fingers.
Zelda may be more about solving puzzles but while doin that you're always faced with beating up enemies. I mean it's one thing to solve a mystery, but it's another to do it while facing down a horde o' the badies. and that's the way it's always been
Plus how long do you take to beat up the bosses. Maybe it's just me but it takes me more than a few flicks.
Yep that's the gist. Of course this only applies to the newest psp's. Mine and everyone I know who has a psp up until recently have been able to downgrade their psp's without a problem. Yes if you want to get on the scene and you don't already have a psp AND you don't have the money, then and only then you'll have to wait til another exploit comes onboard. But that's not to stop everybody. There is already an exploit of 2.7 and some homebrew will make it there. Not the entire collection mind you, but some.
The Psp is not a bad device. I have a 1GB memory stick and that's alot of both homebrew movies, and music. but I've got my 4GB on the way(yay for cheaper prices!) and that makes the device that much more usable to me. Do me a favor and look at the DS homebrew wikipedia entry and understand that regaurdless of what DS you have you'll some sort of disadvantage. Not all PSP's have the disadvanges the new ones do. Honestly I got my psp for free(my birthday and all), but homebrew cost me nothing other than time and patience. And in the end everyone who has the time and patience can do what I did for free. If not either a ds or psp + a little time and money will get you what you want.
I agree that the newer PSP's need hardware to get homebrew. But my point wasn't that the DS doesn't have homebrew, just saying that the psp's homebrew isn't stillborn.
but tepples, I believe you think that all newer psp's are locked out of homebrew. Read up on Undiluted Platinum(mod chip). Learn it, Love it. It works.
But some DS coders have already jumped ship to the psp scene. http://pspupdates.qj.net/LiraNuna-joins-PSP-Homebr ew-Scene-/pg/49/aid/59798 Interesting.
And you forget the large amount of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psp_homebrewhomebrew availbale for the PSP. There is Quake, IRShell(multitasking graphical shell), PSPRadio(mp3/ogg/internet streaming audio player), PMPMod(xvid + AVC video player), ScummVM, a controller device driver(so you can use it as a wireless joypad in Windows), just to name a few. Add emulators up the wazoo(NES,SNES,Genesis,GB(A),Atari,Lynx,Master System, whathaveyou, even the beginnings of a N64 emulator) and you see that homebrew isn't left behind in the PSP scene.
Sony fights homebrew because to get homebrew all you need is software. Nintendo doesn't do it as aggressively because you require hardware/tools/money to get to the ds homebrew scene.

Because... We ALL have a girl in our dungeons... What we don't have is a beautiful working antique of a computer. Bellissimo! ~3cho
The solution of course is to only shoot once. Right now... go ahead I'm waiting...
Once the initial 80% is shot renormalizing will mean that 100 is actually a good enough IQ. And yes, now IQ will then mean something.

Now is there the ability to get iTunes without Quicktime?
